I'm surprised people like the artwork. I think it looks like someone's mailorder envelope. Not bad per se....but nowhere close to professional looking. This has seemed to be the case with a lot of releases going back at least to the first Spring 90 box. Don't get me started on the horrid Daves Picks covers. Such great music but extremely mediocre art, at best These guys can do much better.
eye of the beholder
I bought this for a friend's birthday, just because of the artwork.
Have you received the disc yet?
I got the email with the mp3 download but haven't gotten the actual 45 yet - has anyone received theirs?
I got mine
Well, mine for now as I said it will be an April birthday gift for a friend in Hollywood, CA. A fun place to visit now and then. Freaks.
This is a lovely record. The artwork is masterful, the detail, say, in the fiddle for instance is really something.
To call this, 'amateurish' belies a total lack of understanding of this piece. Whatever, it's perfectly imperfect, distressed - however you want to describe the sloppy, homemade feel it's exactly like Grateful Dead music and a hell of a lot harder to pull off than it looks. The devil is in the details.
New Dead Single

45 reissue art work
hi all , i really do not like any of the art work on these singles. they should have a picture of the band at the time of release. there are so many unpublished photos. also why dont these have a paper 45 inner sleeve? 95% of singles do why not these?
Artwork
I agree strongly with you about the artwork. These are retro releases on a retro media they deserve retro style picture sleeve. Even easier many of these were in picture sleeves when released in Europe they could have used a version of them. As for paper inserts not so much. Commonly known as sand paper for the price either rice paper or plastic sleeve inserts would be far better. Believe it or not the way they come now is better for the vinyl than regular paper sleeves
