We're on a mission to make a miracle every day. As a token of our appreciation for making 2010 an epic year, we're giving away a high-quality 320Kbps download every day this November. That's 30 days of Dead! Intrigued? We're also going to put your knowledge to the test and give you the chance to win some great music from the Dead.
                                                     + More Info
You know your Ables from your Bakers from your C's, but can your finely tuned ears differentiate the cosmic "comeback" tour from a spacey 70's show? Each day we'll post a free download from one of the Dead's coveted shows. Will it be from that magical night at Madison Square Garden in '93 or from way back when they were just starting to warm it up at Winterland? Is that Pigpen's harmonica we hear? Brent on keys? Step right up and try your hand.

Each day, the first person to guess the venue & date correctly will get a Road Trips of their choice. If you’re not first but you've answered correctly, you will also be automatically entered for a weekly prize of THE WARNER BROTHERS STUDIO ALBUMS VINYL BOX (EXCLUSIVE EDITION) or a FORMERLY THE WARLOCKS boxed set. Log in now and enter to win!

...this is just so nice! All graceful instruments are known....The Dead perhaps at the gate of realizing new & boundless music...doing something no one has done before - how many are blessed with that talent? enjoy!

Morning Taters.

Well, this is the only time I've ever been in the running, but considering how short a period NPC was played I wouldn't be surprized if there were a dozen or two who got it even quicker than me--and I had it within 5 or 10 mins of the song being up.

Thanks again to all involved running this. Everything Dead is fun again.

You guys have done a stellar job of greasing up the lightning on these downloads. I got mine in no time at all on the first try. What are you going to do with all this server capacity come December 1st? Hmmmmm..... I have a list of suggestions here ......:)

longer Cabooses...

I thought they might've treated us to one of the later versions, which were twice as long as this early one.
Per Deadlists: "the Phil bass solo in New Potato Caboose contains a jam based on Frederick Chopin's piece "Opus #64", also known as "The Minute Waltz".

Thanks again

Very nice version. This song, though known to me, is one I'm
not as familiar with as others. Really loving it. Thanks.

Thank you zebweber. I think

Thank you zebweber. I think the easier the song choice, the earlier they post it. This one was even easier than the Cream Puff last week and that one was posted real early also.

I know I got this!

Knew it right away at 12:47. Again, no way I won but listening to "The San Francisco Scene" during lunch break is priceless!

eh?

If this is the version I think it is, I really wish they had chosen the song that followed it instead.

New Potato Caboose

This selection is from the first time it was ever played live 8-4-67 @ the O'Keefe Center in Toronto!! One of my GD faves!

.....And there were days I know when all we ever wanted was to learn and love and grow.

New Potato!

LOVE this song, and I really appreciate the org putting this promotion on. Thank you to all who hosted files at the beginning of the month, when the site here was a little wonky. Also, thanks for posting the song length/file sizes each day These are challenging times for some folks out there, and some free Dead, combined with nice folks is a quite a remedy, indeed!
