30 Days Of Dead - November 21st
+ More Info
You know your Ables from your Bakers from your C's, but can your finely tuned ears differentiate the cosmic "comeback" tour from a spacey 70's show? Each day we'll post a free download from one of the Dead's coveted shows. Will it be from that magical night at Madison Square Garden in '93 or from way back when they were just starting to warm it up at Winterland? Is that Pigpen's harmonica we hear? Brent on keys? Step right up and try your hand.
Each day, the first person to guess the venue & date correctly will get a Road Trips of their choice. If you’re not first but you've answered correctly, you will also be automatically entered for a weekly prize of THE WARNER BROTHERS STUDIO ALBUMS VINYL BOX (EXCLUSIVE EDITION) or a FORMERLY THE WARLOCKS boxed set. Jerry's voice is telling me it's early to mid-80's. Searching the database, I see a couple possibilities, one of which is mentioned earlier (8/31/83...which coincidentally is listed on deadlists home page as "Cassidy; Don't Ease Me In"). Another one is 9/10/85, which lists the tunes as Cassidy > Don't Ease Me In.
There is definitely a pause between the songs on this offering, but as we all know, the "->" designation gets thrown around loosely in the Grateful Dead setlist canon. Well, we'll see if I got it right (doubt it!).
This is just sooo very nice!!!
I love Brent's voice on this, and so much of his work. He had a
great voice, and harmonized well on songs like this. Added so
much depth. Really nice jam to.
"Fare thee well, let your life proceed by it's own design".
I love that. And wish it for everyone.
"let the words be yours, I am done with mine".
Well, I never would have guessed this answer from your clue. And I was on a streak where I guessed like 10 in a row correctly. O well, it is good to be reminded to keep it real. Thanks again. Oh what was the question again? Early 90's New York?
Thanks vault masters for this combo of two classics, I always love Bobby and Brent singing on Cassidy... I totally guessed on this one, we'll see tomorrow if I got it right.
It's like how in the 60's AM radio used to play one great song after another...truly amazing work in finding the good versions!
It's totally Alpine Valley 6.20.88
What Bobby says at the end of Don't Ease is different. This one is also listed as with a > transition symbol when it could be ; or ~.
...Brent's plinky keyboard sound. It cannot be post-'86 in my opinion. We'll see tomorrow!
What a long strange trip it's been
Had to scramble and guess wildly again.... sounds like 1986
