Grateful Dead
30 Days Of Dead - November 22nd
+ More Info
You know your Ables from your Bakers from your C's, but can your finely tuned ears differentiate the cosmic "comeback" tour from a spacey 70's show? Each day we'll post a free download from one of the Dead's coveted shows. Will it be from that magical night at Madison Square Garden in '93 or from way back when they were just starting to warm it up at Winterland? Is that Pigpen's harmonica we hear? Brent on keys? Step right up and try your hand.
Each day, the first person to guess the venue & date correctly will get a Road Trips of their choice. If you’re not first but you've answered correctly, you will also be automatically entered for a weekly prize of THE WARNER BROTHERS STUDIO ALBUMS VINYL BOX (EXCLUSIVE EDITION) or a FORMERLY THE WARLOCKS boxed set. Log in now and enter to win! - Less Info
Kudos & Thanx for the daily downloads! Have listened to 'bout half & am saving the rest to throw on a CD(s) as an audio surprise package for my next road trip.
WOW!
I can't say thanks enough to all the fine people at DEAD.NET! What a treat. I have actually enjoyed & looked forward to coming home & firing up the laptop just to see who & whats posted & get my miracle MP3 download of the day! The contest has been fun even though I can't get access till 10, maybe 11pm EST Regardless of the posts of some pretty blatant answers to the days clues :) I still had to listen & make up my on ears choice. Comments in the intro or post song are usually always DEAD giveaways, The real fun ones were by comparing the musical notes, chords & vocals that were the deciding factors. I usually end up playing a whole slew of tunes from the past too!
With 8 days left & 30 Days winds down for the for the final set & if it's already not set in stone, I have a request a couple more Pigpen tunes! Maybe Turn On Your Lovelight, Good Lovin, Good Morning Little Schoolgirl & or of course BIG BOSS MAN!
My only other Jerry request would be for a Terrapin Station>..... I only 1 found they ended the 1st set with, Without going in to Drums>Space>etc. That was the Spectrum in 77'
Til the Morning Comes....
& Mr. Charlie too! ♫ ☮
It looks to me like that date is today's date and maybe we will get a b version too.
I can hope can't I???

Opps! Just for the record, I nailed in five minutes without seeing the date. After I submitted my guess I went into my iTunes to add the date to the file and was startled to already find it there. Maybe somebody had too much too fast!
Great gift for my birthday, thanks.
Did anyone else notice that the tune is already tagged with the concert date? Unless it's a trick!
Download the MP3 since the song name tag includes the date.
but I think I guessed wrong...
Woo hoo!
49.8 MB

49.8 MB (52,284,657 bytes)

LOL it's tagged with the date?!
Another multiple version?
Good Luck today!!
Jimmy the Cop
By my ear that is the correct date. Has anyone found a B version? This was is tagged as "22a."
unlike previous instances of a and b, the streaming version and the download version are the same 21.47 in length and 49.86MB in size. The mp3 tag of the date looks correct to my ears.
Tennessee sounds real good! Thats all I got!
13.4mb
5:47 time
First time during this that I had an issue!
man, all kinds of "server error" "404"s and "routine maintenance" fubars just trying to get on today - and the first time the page successfully loaded the links for streaming/download didn't even appear.
LOL, must have been a party weekend in deadnetatopia!
Jumped on this one quick and got it pretty easy. But somebody definitely screwed up by leaving the date tag in the file! Must have been one hell of a party over the weekend!
Thanks for the sweet sounding tunes!
After the crash but now there's not enough time left this morning even with a teaser file. [sfsf]

Unofficial Songlist, Dates, Venues, Daily and Weekly Winners
I had so much trouble getting the song to load I didn't see the date on the Itunes list until after it downloaded.
I still would like a b.
Maybe one w/o the dat on it so that there can be a contest winner.

To the good people of Dead.net, thanks so much for the 30 days of downloads and the very generous labeling of > for Tennessee Jed>Let It Grow. By my count, including the (b) versions of Easy Wind and He's Gone this brings the tally so far to 28 songs in 22 days. Also thanks for giving us the date today and thus giving everyone a shot at the lottery for the weekly prize. Oh, and for the rest of the community, in case they remove the date from the file name later in the day it's 10/23/89.
So many songs to ease my soul!
I tried four (4) different times to download and got four different files sizes & lengths!!! Whats up with this?
i wish i looked at the download before i guessed, i picked an 88 date that i was at that sure sounded right. oh well maybe a second, correct guess will get put into the weekly lottery. does anyone know if we get a entry for every correct answer per week or it is just one entry per week?

well, got the download, the date is on there, gee, congratulations to the first who got the download, answer right there upon completion. This site hasn't worked this bad since the 5th or so...gonna go look for that "b" now.
I tried replacing the "a" with a "b" but that didn't work :) Anyone had any luck with "b'? Oh and thanks to all who have provided us with this great series. I for one really appreciate it!
Finally on second try from the drop box got the full 49.9MB-
5 tries on standard link
Thanks for the help, and thanks for the music!
It is worth the sffort
I got 41.5 mb on the first try, at 18:09. Obviously not the whole
file, as it cuts off abruptly near the end. Really nice sounding
track. I'll try again later to grab it. I'm glad theyre giving them to us, two at a time now, thanks. Congrats to the first in, with
what must have been the easiest guess yet. lol.
Brent era w/ Jerry using midi, there is only one choice, it has to be 10-23-89.
Not sure when Jerry started using the midi but I do believe it was after the previous version from 10-15-88.
Enjoy :)
Well , i guess I'd better grab deadbase again ; someone did have a point--whaat if it's a trick ?
Could we play this game every month , pleease ?! This has been so interesting .
finally.... must have been about 10 attempts, but worth it, so don't give up. Thank you for the music, I love it and I can appreciate all the effort going into this project. Nice hint on the track date, btw!!!
help slip franklin would be good thanks for the trax
First hit a go'er. Viva the Grateful Dead and long live the fun revolution!!!
@sometimesagreat... you said 28 tracks in 22 days. I count 24 tracks in 22 days, given the two days that had "b" tracks. Or am I missing four additional secret bonus tracks?
Thanks for the date!
It has been great
Second try worked. 49.8 mb, at 21:47. Maybe the fact it was
the largest file they've given us yet, caused a problem. Either
way, it's fantastic! Thank you very much!
"...bound to cover just a little more ground..."
I can make 27, if you count the three which are double songs. This is great, thanks to the generous folks bringing us all these tracks.
Thanks to the band crew tech's and even executives.
Love It .
Do For Other's You Will Feel Better.
Guaranteed!!!!
Very inspired choice of performances ~ really great, really spirited Jed, and a stunning 13-minute Let It Grow. Love the little macabre organ keyboard flourish Brent throws in at the very end....close enough to Halloween, I suppose....!
Bet you were loving this, Jack o Roses!
Let It Grow never failed to deliver, ever. A day or two before my last two-night stand ever, in '95, I decided I'd like to bang one more Let It Grow. And they gifted me, it was the first night's first set closer. And it delivered. My final first set, as it happened ~ I sustained near-ER-caliber sunburn that afternoon, and barely hobbled in for the next night's second set. (Because I did, I was able to catch the Shakedown set opener nearly 10 years to the day of my first show ~ opened the second set, dancin' on the lawn, for my first & last shows : )
Since they gave us today's date (was kind of refreshing not to have to guess), could they possibly trip us up with a Hartbeats Cosmic Charlie?
