We're on a mission to make a miracle every day. As a token of our appreciation for making 2010 an epic year, we're giving away a high-quality 320Kbps download every day this November. That's 30 days of Dead! Intrigued? We're also going to put your knowledge to the test and give you the chance to win some great music from the Dead.
                                                     + More Info
You know your Ables from your Bakers from your C's, but can your finely tuned ears differentiate the cosmic "comeback" tour from a spacey 70's show? Each day we'll post a free download from one of the Dead's coveted shows. Will it be from that magical night at Madison Square Garden in '93 or from way back when they were just starting to warm it up at Winterland? Is that Pigpen's harmonica we hear? Brent on keys? Step right up and try your hand.

Each day, the first person to guess the venue & date correctly will get a Road Trips of their choice. If you’re not first but you've answered correctly, you will also be automatically entered for a weekly prize of THE WARNER BROTHERS STUDIO ALBUMS VINYL BOX (EXCLUSIVE EDITION) or a FORMERLY THE WARLOCKS boxed set. Log in now and enter to win!

Donna?

That's clearly Brent singing in the background, and it's not his sweet, clean '79 voice but his gritty, gravely '80s crooning.

For, like, the 13th time

listening and this one's still shakin' down the street. Jerry and Brent had a nice back and forth jam going. :)

Seriously?

You all must be smoking something. This is terrible; Jerry's singing is seriously in need of auto-tune, and the mix is pretty poor.

I still hope we get a big Lovelight before this month is over. And it would be fitting if on the 30th we got And We Bid You Goodnight...

One of the other winners told me they got resolution by calling 1-800-CAL-DEAD. I tried that and the CSR said it handled "through the community".

So I submitted something through the "Feedback" link on the site, and after a few days I got a response that since it was a promotion that goes through Dr. Rhino. I don't think I got anything back on that email.

I contacted marye and she must have got through to someone, since I did eventually get an email from "webmaster@dead.net". I sent my information back as requested but heard not a word since.

No shipping confirmation as of Wednesday. marye did respond to another message, but she was at an impasse due to the holiday schedule.

No matter...my ears are happy. Thanks for the downloads.

I'm in the same place, exactly. Hopefully it'll work out - let me and others know if/when you get a resolution, and I'll do the same....

In the meantime, I'm really enjoying today's Shakedown. Super version, nice Jerry/ Brent playing, as was mentioned in a few previous comments.... Sweet!

Call 1800CALDEAD and talk to Adam S. I am proof it works. I won on the 4th and I'm holding RT4.1 in my hands right now. Just call and leave a message for Adam S. He will even call you back. Great guy. No need to do anything else. It took me one week to get it on track...but patience was rewarded.

Sweet!

This track is sweet, love that guitar > piano talkback between Jerry and Brent!

Downloaded first time straight @;-=

And thanks to lazylightnin2 for that little glyph, cool stuff!

Still hoping for a Stella and a Scarlet>Fire would be awesome, don't even mind that being a Brit I can't enter the guessing game, this whole month has been such a buzz! Oh, and a Bird Song with a long jam would be amazing, but, hey, I'll take what comes!

Thanks everyone!

Lean and mean

A lean, mean version with great playing throughout, and good vocals by Jerry. One of the all-time best Shakedowns I think. Pretty cool interplay between Brent and Jer. After the tip I got it pretty fast, this is from one of the best shows of the early 80's. Hopefully we'll see an official release of this someday. There are definitely some good audience recordings out there as well.

can't never have too much fun

Now that the bar has been set pretty high and the community is licking their lips for more (dare I say MORE!). I am way solid in the 12 Days of Jerry, but then what? How about a series of "connected" songs? It would be ever so nice to hear a high quality Scarlet>Grey>Fire. They did that what..4 times??? Go rare, go crazy! Fierce Peace everyone.

Less than 20 performances of "Mason's Children"...

Fifteen or eighteen, depending on where I look, and several of them are "available" as they say. Dick's Picks 4 has one, Fallout from the Phil Zone has another, the remastered reissue of Workingman's Dead has another, and I know there are tapers copies of several of the other shows that had a performance of it.

The online Deadbase has 18, from 12/19/69 to 2/28/70. Played it for three months and then dropped it forever. Huh.

What a funky

What a funky friday!

Couldn't get to my computer until after 10pm.

I had to listen to all the funk on yesterdays page first,
then I let the Shakedown do it to me in my ear hole.

Oh man. Just a few days left so GET OFF YOU ASS AND JAM!!!!!

Ya, that Charlie Miller is Killer

After listening to that whole show, I almost forgot to guess!

The Spectrum! Man, what a room. I'm glad it is represented this month. I believe it was torn down this year. I saw as many shows there as I did at The Coliseum or The Garden!

I will miss that hard, sticky, cramped, echoey, old soul.
