Chilligan’s Char-grilled Swingset Adventure Part 1 Vine
+ More Info
You know your Ables from your Bakers from your C's, but can your finely tuned ears differentiate the cosmic "comeback" tour from a spacey 70's show? Each day we'll post a free download from one of the Dead's coveted shows. Will it be from that magical night at Madison Square Garden in '93 or from way back when they were just starting to warm it up at Winterland? Is that Pigpen's harmonica we hear? Brent on keys? Step right up and try your hand.
Each day, the first person to guess the venue & date correctly will get a Road Trips of their choice. If you’re not first but you've answered correctly, you will also be automatically entered for a weekly prize of THE WARNER BROTHERS STUDIO ALBUMS VINYL BOX (EXCLUSIVE EDITION) or a FORMERLY THE WARLOCKS boxed set. Log in now and enter to win! - Less Info
Love to all from Ohio!!! To health and kindness!!!
30 years, well over 2,000 shows and 25,000 songs. More Pigpen? Less Donna? More Brent? I can't believe how difficult it must have been, especially knowing most would second guess the picks. And do they abruptly cut or fade out the songs they pick? Questions only those in charge can answer. I can say that, at least for me, it's renewed my appetite to hear more from my collection. I did really poor in the guessing and used many of the extra clues in the posts to even attempt an answer. I ended up getting about 3 right. That in itself was worth the price of admission! So thanks to those responsible and although many of the songs weren't my favorites, the versions picked made up for that. To those that posted links and artwork, thanks to you as well. Hopefully they will continue this in some way but if not I at least have my 30 Days of Dead. Thanks again to all who made this entire experience what it was.
In October a dear friend (and fellow deahead) of mine passed away, then a week later a former teaching colleague died. Then, on the Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend a 13 year old girl at my daughter's school committed suicide. I found that the 30 Days of Dead downloads really helped me get through this difficult time.

What a trip
Thanks for old times and great music.
My guess, and I've been wrong on most of these, is that this gem of a Sugar Mags comes from 1978. My favorite period is 1976-1978, the entire band just seems to be firing on all cylinders. Too bad this venture is ended. No Scarlet Fire, no Estimated Eyes, sandwiches. Oh well. Thanks to Dead. net for doing this at all.
Now this has been a nice sentence.. thank you for being so kind! (~);}
Any time I get a chance to add a live recording to my library, I am happy ... 30 live recordings and I am ecstatic!!! No need to ask: R U kind?>it is obvious!
From the 60s to my 60s ...
Thanks magic Dead Rhinos for putting 30 songs in our Christmas stockings a month early, and thanks for the Road Trip from my lucky win early this month.
I have heard so much more Dead this month, rolling through the archives, thanks to this promotion, than I have listened to in quite a while.
Found the Darkstar>Spanish Jam>Lovelight from 2/11/70 with the half of the ABB and half of FMac joining the Dead onstage. Now that was a blast, and I found it thanks to this month's fun.
Yes, it is the second Sugar Mag, but it was delivered with a ton of energy. Great way to wake up.
It has been great reading your posts, cheers to everyone!
Thanks dead.net and others for making this a great month.
Nothin' left to do but smile, smile, smile...
Thanks to all involved for sharing the music!
Many thanks to all at dead.net for a wonderful month and also to CC for the great artwork. For someone who got into the Dead late this has been a wonderful education, sharing in the knowledge of all the guys who were lucky enough to get there sooner.
Now to really top of a great month I get an email today telling me my Winterland 77 has shipped!!.. Christmas has surely come early.
Thanks again to all, I wish everyone good health and a very merry Christmas.
Keep On Truckin'
To do a weekly quiz or play or some type of idea like this on the day 31 forum. All ideas are welcome for what we can do...perhaps a weekly song or Jerry songs or whatever we want to keep this fun of searching the archives alive. Send us ideas and don't just stop that train here.
Also you can continue the discussions of what was brought up over the thirty days, and I'm sure all the links to resources will be made available there as well. Pretty much, Dead.net is our site, it's for the fans and we have free roam, so any and all ideas are welcome. That being said there are only small "Obvious" rules here on Dead.Net we have to adhere to, if you have questions about that just ask.
How about 31 days of Dead some time with a song from each year starting at 1965 up to 1995. It would be cool to here the evolution of the band in chronological order.
also, thanks for the music
That it is just not cool at all to bitch, moan, complain, bash, (you name it) things you get for free. To me it is a lot like someone who begs for money, they get some and then complain that the bills were not folded properly or were in the wrong order or were wrinkled. This type of complaining reminds me of what my 6 year old would do. Sheesh. As far as the RT's - you have a choice - lucky you!! You can choose to buy them or not to buy them. You are right - I would not buy those RT's ahead of time without knowing what they are, so that being said, I won't buy them until I do know. Wow I made a choice!!
After 30 days of reading the comments here I couldn't hold back any longer. Did we forget about the "Grateful" part??
"It's got no signs or dividing line and very few rules to guide"
To everyone who put together 30 Days of Dead--Thanks!! I feel Dead-er than ever! These songs are warming my bones this cold December day. THANK YOU
This an awesome version. Love it! Every performance had it's
unique quality's. I love this song. Who doesn't remember how
great it felt, to dance your ass off, when they wound the jam
up. Then, like now, I wish it would never end. Thanks Dead.net
Thanks Canyon Critter, for the great art work. And everyone!
Maybe we can do it again? I can only hope. Peace.
30 days. 30 songs. Nothing but gratitude from Dublin City, Ireland. An incredible gift. Be Grateful!
this past month has been great and i'm grateful! THANK YOU FOR A REAL GOOD TIME!
Are (some of) you people kidding me?? Don't even try to tell me that Bobby didn't have your asses boogieing in the aisle!! The Dead simply wouldn't be the Dead without Bob Weir. Bob's rhythm created a richness that is astonishing no matter how many times I hear him. There is greatness in his generally subtle expression. Please!!! Bob is amazing and one of my favorite guitarists. You complainers need to youtube some shows, get off the Jerry hobbyhorse and just watch Bobby perform. Jerry was Jerry but Bobby was - and is - a spectacular performer and worthy of respect!!! Take a step back......seriously!!!!!
For the let it grow link....there was a typo (thanks for pointing this out rkosis) This is the fixed one.

Thanks for all the FREE music!!!!
for the classic Sugar Mag-SunshineDD. It reminded me so much of the shows themselves...the anticipation as Surgar Mag ended..then the pause...then the beginning of SunshineDD, roaring into great ROCK N ROLL!! A fitting encore for a great month of music. Thank you for a real good time. Let's do it again!
Just when you thought things couldn't get any more weird than they are - Send us $100 in advance, and when we decide what we are going to manufacture, we'll ship it to you, free of charge of course.
Road Trips has been a major dissapointment, highlighted by Dead.Net giving them away with the "30 Days of the Dead" blomo.
We frequently enjoy going out to restaurants, prepaying for the meal, and always enjoying what we were spoon fed!
Who is in Charge?
What are these second versions of which people speak? And how do I put cover pictures onto iTunes???
I found the location in the index.

And On the 31st Day...
Pass it on...
This was a great month... great music and the chance for someone who is not as versed in the Dead as others to learn a lot more about the history.
...was inaccurate? People have been saying he declared "complete shows", but thirty (THIRTY?) songs on a CD taken from one of the first two subscription releases sounds...odd.
There's a couple of months before the subscription opportunity times out, maybe we'll find out more, or maybe TPTB figure any additional info would only have a negative impact on subscriptions.
What will I do now around noon each day?? :-(
Thanks Dead.net, Rhino, Canyon Critter, and all who posted here this month. Everyone, have a Merry Jerry Christmas!!!
My Dog is named Sugar Magnolia, nuff said.
SustainaBill has given us an insert for our cd's and presents we are giving out as Christmas presents....there are two formats pdf and xlsx.
It's really well done with lots of fun and pictures and you can find it here:
(I don't think he's fully finished yet but just one more edit and it will be)
And I got WODZ too.
my cup overflowth.
Some people would complain if you hung 'em with a new rope! Sheesh.
A big "Thank you!" for the music and the contest to the band members, Rhino and Dead Net, it's been a blast! I've heard some music and learned things I never would have known without hunting down the different years, venues and reading the Comments here.
Canyon Critter and kutsavi, thanks for the links, the pictures and the websites and thank you everyone that's participated this month! :)
"As a whole, in general, the Grateful Dead is not benign."

Just can't get over how much fun this all was. Over the last year or so I have just given up fighting it. I just buy what they put out. I'm just a total sucker for GD. When the RT come out, some I want right away. Others; I sit and question and consider my mood, but that lasts all of 5 minutes and then I'm typing in my card number. I need to get the discs, and be with them, crushing out my sound system for days, before I can truly judge anything. And then this promo. It's all super cool to me.
Dead.net; you lay it down; I'll pick it up
Oh! and one thing Deadheads do is bitch about the Grateful Dead.
Who else would?
Enjoyed the 30 Days, some favorites and some obscure picks. Coupled with the Further show in St. Louis it made for a very "Dead" month
"To each his reach
And if I don't cop, it ain't mine to have
But I'll be reachin' for ya
'Cause I love ya, CC.
They say your jivin' game, it can't be changed
But on the positive side,
You're my piece of the rock
And I love you, CC.
Can you dig it?"
see Y'all next year
What a great month! Just a little suggestion (and not wanting to be too greedy) but why not do the "12 Days of Christmas" downloads to keep us all happy between Dec 25 and Jan 6th???? (please and many thanks again)
sugar mags for second time in 11 days in nov. for me it was about uncle bobo. was on wolfgangsvault a lot recently. wow. thank you uncle bobo
For a forum topic: how about The 31st Day?
for a real good time. I may be going to hell in a bucket, but at least I'm enjoying the ride. 30 days of free (yes, FREE) music and all some ungrateful folks can do is complain. "I wanted such and such song, I want more Jerry, I want, I want, I want."
Are you really fans of this band?
One man gathers what another man spills.
Thank you so much to everyone involved in this great happening.
and to the complainers; What I want to know is: are you kind?
Thank you for a real good time. Thanks for all the free tunes! A little of this, a little of that.
....not only '78, but the same run as Dick's 25. Donna & Bob have been drinking from the same punch.
Very raucous. Jerry obviously enjoying himself spectacularly as part of a band rather than as lead man out. Jerry's tone like a fat stratocaster. Howlingly excellent SSDD. Probably a show closer. Two drummers, one very hot, the other out of practice and too loud. Made my guess.

I don't know where you find this option listed in an index. Does anyone know how to navigate this site so others may find this forum? I bookmarked this address yesterday, but I could not locate it without awareness of its address.
Please let others know that
is a forum that has been provided to carry this party into the future. Let's make this address known.
Thanks Dead Net, Critter and everyone.
....could I have some more........sir
big time thank you for the tunes for our ears
