Grateful Dead
30 Days Of Dead - November 3rd
+ More Info
You know your Ables from your Bakers from your C's, but can your finely tuned ears differentiate the cosmic "comeback" tour from a spacey 70's show? Each day we'll post a free download from one of the Dead's coveted shows. Will it be from that magical night at Madison Square Garden in '93 or from way back when they were just starting to warm it up at Winterland? Is that Pigpen's harmonica we hear? Brent on keys? Step right up and try your hand.
Each day, the first person to guess the venue & date correctly will get a Road Trips of their choice. If you’re not first but you've answered correctly, you will also be automatically entered for a weekly prize of THE WARNER BROTHERS STUDIO ALBUMS VINYL BOX (EXCLUSIVE EDITION) or a FORMERLY THE WARLOCKS boxed set. Jerry's voice sounds clear and less world weary. No synth on the guitar, sounds straightforward. I can hear the synthesizer that Brent used to use. Nice slow version

when I play the downloaded Althea in Windows Media Player a message flashes up saying ' Beyond Description (1973-1989) [Bonus Disc] Disc 6' suggesting this is from the (released!) expanded version of 'Go to heaven'. According to the notes from that release, the Althea comes from October 1980 (no specific date given). Whether that is true or not I have no idea.
I wound up guessing 12/31/80 @ Oakland Auditorium...
I say earlier 80's than mid/late, cus its REALLY tight.....
But I guess we'll see soon right ?
Ok i want the answer now cus its KILLIN ME not knowing !!!(rolling on floor, full tantrum mode ! )

Thanks Chastason, perfect album cover for my iTunes library.
Is there anyone who hasn't memorized every single guitar lick, vocal nuance, keyboard rill, drum beat, and bass thud of each of the 272 Altheas the Grateful Dead performed between 79 and 95? Sheesh.
Seriously, that is what makes this so fun. I got the first one right, was wrong yesterday, but think I was right - and first - today (but thought I might be first on Monday too, and wasn't).
Have a great November fellow Deadheads.
John
