You know your Ables from your Bakers from your C's, but can your finely tuned ears differentiate the cosmic "comeback" tour from a spacey 70's show? Each day we'll post a free download from one of the Dead's coveted shows. Will it be from that magical night at Madison Square Garden in '93 or from way back when they were just starting to warm it up at Winterland? Is that Pigpen's harmonica we hear? Brent on keys? Step right up and try your hand.
Each day, the first person to guess the venue & date correctly will get a Road Trips of their choice. If you’re not first but you've answered correctly, you will also be automatically entered for a weekly prize of THE WARNER BROTHERS STUDIO ALBUMS VINYL BOX (EXCLUSIVE EDITION) or a FORMERLY THE WARLOCKS boxed set. "It's got no signs or dividing line and very few rules to guide"
now, that's a Dead giveaway!
3 in a row for me - let's hope I'm first :)
PS - starting to see a 'blown lyrics' theme...first Weir, then Jer, now Pig - what's next, Phil?
After listening to the download from Archive.org and comparing, it is 6.13.70 Red Vest Hawaii, I am fairly sure because of the comments regarding extra microphones.
They made it tough this time with extra stage banter at the end of the track. I think this show was just before I was born. My birthday is 1/29/1970.
I picked 12/26/1970, though I guess I didn't get it since it did not award a winner.
Just for fun, I went with my 3rd birthday, 12/29/69.
This is sooooo cool.

Location
My book shows 2 shows at the Nat'l Guard Armory in St. Louis on May 24/25 in 1968. I'm probably wrong, though.
