Thank you for playing 30 Days of Dead. The answer to this day's contest is:
San Francisco, CA, Winterland Arena

This is one of the very few Grateful Dead recordings in the vault from 1967. But what a show! It also includes early versions of "That’s It For The Other One" and "Lovelight."

I cannot download any of the tracks. It says to right click (Save download as...) but this is not an option for me...any advice??
Same here! I can't figure it out!!
As fo me, I just love the GD from 1967....great jamming, inventive stuff...the flow! New Potato is such a good vehicle for astral transportation...And compliments to the crew that set this up - it works so well. Thanx!
Never done this before so maybe Im old and in the way lol... but I cant seem to get it to download.. any tips?
I've been trying to download any of the first three days and poof, nothing . Any help out there family ?
Matt.. I Love Rockit Radio... picked up a couple of the Beatles Interviews from you...I have Windows 7 and have not had a problem downloading at all...do the email thing.... then right click and the click on Save Target As ...it should work, I have started a 30 Days of the Dead Folder, started on the 4th and went through and got the all up to date... good luck and Rock On, my Friend
yipee!!! So glad this is back! My HD crashed since last year's installment so I lost all of last year's songs. Last year there was someone that had a site set up where you could see all the songs on one page....anyone know if anyone's got anything like that this year? Of if the one I was on last year still exists so I can get those songs again? :) That would be my kind of miracle ;-)
can be found at:

Sweet looking threads...thanks for the 30-days, again. I was not nearly as deadicated the last time you all did this, to take advantage of it. Thanks for doing this.
I almost forgot about this today!
Oh maaaan I love this!
Who knows what time we should expect the next days song?
I can't find all the info in one place. And my eyes are a little blurry right now, so I am having some trouble.
Page and download worked great, though!
And away we go
This will be an awesome warm up for the Furthur show I'm going to on the 19th... I'm counting down the days.
C U in Mad-town!
It's great to see you contributing to this year's 30 Days of Dead forum! Last year, you added many a lively post during the 30 days - all of which I enjoyed very much!
Welcome back!
Ed
Definitely 10/22/1967 at Winterland in SF, CA. I guarantee! {~};=}
God Bless the Good Ole Grateful Dead.
New Potato Caboose
Lyrics By: Phil Lesh
Music By: Bobby Petersen
Last leaf fallen, bare earth where green was born
Above my doorknob, two eagles hang against a cloud (note 1)
Sun comes up blood red
Wind yells among the stone
All graceful instruments are known
When the windows all are broken
And your love's become a toothless crone
When the voices of the storm sound
Like a crowd
Winter morning breaks, you're all alone
The eyes are blind
Blue visions are all a seer can own
And touching makes the flesh to cry out loud
This ground on which the seed of love is sown
All graceful instruments are known
(1) the lyrics in the "Anthology" songbook are "Black Madonna, two eagles ...". But all the recordings sound like "Above my doorknob ..." - and it seems this may be a reference to a stained glass panel of two eagles and a cloud set in a door in the Dead's house.
I was thinking '67 when I first heard it but I'm now leaning towards later.
Listen to the New Potato from 10/22/1967 on the Archives. I'm pretty sure that's the one. The length of both tracks are approximately 9:44 (most New Potatoes from around that time are either longer, or have other tunes bookending two halves), and if you go to specific spots in each track, the band is right in step, each bit mirroring the other. This one has my vote fo' shizzle'!
11/1/68 - Silver Dollar Fair?
Yyyyeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Another awesome 30 days in Nov!
I'll guess 2/3/68 at the Crystal Ballroom in Portland
Ok there are alot of questions on how to download this. If you follow these simple tips you'll be able. And Mac users just use the CTRL button so I'm told.
If you really have a serious issue just pm me here at Dead.Net and we'll get the issue worked out.
Here's how though.
1. Click the Enter Contest and Download Song or Just Download Song button.
2. After you enter your email (my prefered) or you can Facebook this thing it will show you the link to the show. The link can stream to a "quicktime" player on another page or download.
3. If you just want to download, make sure you right click the place it says....
Thank You. Download today's free song here.
(right-click save-as to download)
4. The key is to right click and use Save Link as... instead of thinking you Save As... and BOOM it downloads.
5. I recommend using a seperate folder like 30 Days of Dead 2011 or something and then linking that straight to your Itunes or whatever you use. This is an MP3 and will automatically add when you select the folder you chose.
Hope that helps.

Wohoooooo, so excited to have this back. I guess I'll have to make some new album artwork again this year. I'll have to get inspired by a few songs first, but I'm so happy you are doing this again.
THANK YOU!!!!!!
Last Years Album Artwork:
And let's move on to this year 2011!
And yes I still have last years 30 days/songs as the favorite playlist of last year!
Rock on and Let's Have a Grand Ole Time with the Good Ole Grateful Dead.
I had a lot of fun with this last year. I don't remember having to agree to accept promotional offers from anybody. Am I going to have to explain why I don't want a timeshare in Hoboken to some aggressive marketer in a tie dye shirt? I hope not. Anyway, thanks for the free music. Really, it rocks. I got all 30 last year, gonna try for that again.
another year of great music releases! Gotta love the free dowloads, which is my question. Has anyone got the download to work? I click on the link and it brings me to a site with just a audio bar in the middle. I can play and listen to the song but no way to download. Any suggestions??
Dejavu
Wow can't beleave it's a whole year! Still listen to last years often! Not sure if it works on mobile downloads. But no luck yet. PC is down. So all I have is my iPod touch. Any suggestions? Thanks for the ride!
Awesome! I was hoping for the return of this awesome event - I started to lose hope but everything's golden now!
Unable to Download.
Any ideas on why I can't download this to my PC?
windows vista??
But if I'm wrong, I don't mind. I don't need an XXL-sized shirt anyway haha
Any ideas on why I can't download this to my PC?
BoredSolo: It looks like you get to the stream/download link with a Javascript wozzit .
If Javascript is disabled or if your computer/iPhone/tin can and a very lo-o-o-o-o-n-n-n-g string can't run Javascript then you might not be able to get the download link to work and that's about as far as I'm going to look.
This year the monkey's got the main line sewn up tight but before the engineer went out for a bite to eat he left the contest rules sittin' in the driver's seat. They have the word 'tampering' in them four times along with some fairly clear instructions about how to get yourself disqualified from the contest:-
Thank you David and family, loved playin along last year, getting them all wrong, and enjoying the music, Can't wait for my tune everyday!!
Keep Dancin'
YES YES this is such a good idea it helps motivate me to go to work because when I get off there is another GD jam to listen to and try and figure out when and where Again gratefully thankful
Thanks to whoever said to hold down the control button while clicking the download link. Worked like a charm. I downloaded it to a folder, then dragged it into iTunes.
Loveya,
Jolie
Indeed, many thank yous to whoever gave the d/l info to us...and special thank you to you Jolie for clueing me in....It did work like a charm. My download went straight to itunes.....

Do u know if you can download the free tunes via iphone? and if so how do you do it?
what fun! thanks, David, Rhino and family, for sending us off on another new adventure. what a joy to come home to such a sweet surprise. looking forward to much beautiful music and hearing from the gang from last year.
now to turn this up and place my guess.
thanks David.
awesome selection.
This is so awesome! I get home from work and find out that its 30 Days of Dead again!
Thanks guys/gals for doing this again! Fantastic first choice...goes very well with a fall evening :)
I would have to say this is from 68...the venue is beyond me though.
Thanks, dead.net/Rhino! I came back in the house after working on my motorsickle all afternoon and there's a link to a shiny New Potato Caboose waiting for me in my Inbox!
Oh, man, now I'm not going to be able to finish the project and go riding this weekend; be too busy digging through tunes and trying to guess the songs!
Woe! Woe is me!
Thank you everyone....And, it's my birthday!
loved this last year and play those tunes a ton.
Many thanks for round 2, a very pleasant surprise in my email inbox!
for Safari users on Mac - control-click (not command-click) on link to bring up "download file as". It's 22.4 meg file
Works on both PC and MAC it on both, but i only used it in Google Chrome. So im not sure if it varies between browsers. But just click on the link that takes you to the stream of the song. Then right click on player for the song, and select "save movie." Now when it asks you where to save the file and what to name it MAKE SURE you type in ".mp3" after the name or it will not work. Hope this helps with the confusion.
For Mac users, after entering your e-mail addy, right click the underlined file link called "Download today's free song here". Then select "Download Linked File" or "Download Linked File As..."
Or, you can even click "Open With iTunes." Hope it works out for y'all!
Have a good download!
Bobby
The 30 days right-click save-as isnt working for me...goes straight to steam...any suggestions?
I just downloaded the file on my mac. Click on the just download button and then scroll down a bit to enter your email. You will then see where to download the song.
