San Francisco, CA, Fillmore West

06/07/1970

This was primarily an acoustic number earlier in 1970, and then slipped into the electric realm. It was only played once in 1971, but was otherwise a steady part of the repertoire 1970-1995.

Very nice....

I just love these late spring 1970 acoustic sets. I think my favorite is 5/2/70.

Great choice for a Sunday morning. Thanks to whoever is responsible.

The wrong drugs kicked in...

no doubt about that. Thankfully we have 1965-74 to choose from. Thanks for the clues, everybody. This was the easiest one since Charlie Miller ID'd RFK a while back.

Slowness of the 70's

Really I don't think it had anything to do with the drugs (and I think you were being humorous).

That was a trend in the mid-70s, and not specifically applicable to GD shows, IMO.

a gimme

man, this one was easy thanks to the acousticness and Bobby's comment.

a real treat to get an original-style bluegrass FOTD, before the wrong drugs kicked in and slowed things down.

Second helping of candy

So was the title of "Candyman" left off because someone was complaining a couple of days ago about the use of the > symbol when it wasn't a true segue? Jeez, will ya look at the mouth on that gift horse... ;-)

Well, one of us is wrong I only count Max 17 .. depending on what text file you read and if one counts "banter" as a song or how many times they do or do not count drumz? I do count 19 from previous night?

also done @ Saratoga 1985

that was a kooky show (really good tunes, but insane crowd)...gate crashing, folks hanging off the balcony, marshmellows flying all over the lawn. i sold bagels & cream cheese for gas money home, my first vending lol. i also clearly remember dancing up on the lawn underneath a tree when Crazy Fingers started and my friend asked me what that was, he was just enthralled with it, echos on Jerry's voice and Brent's piano work was really well miked. i'll have to look that one up again

anyhow, wondering when else this silly joke was told?

Looks like they might have had a little Southern Comfort before the show. Also, debut of a Weir/Hunter tune...

classic friend of the devil from a tight run of shows when they were doing acoustic and electric sets.

I'd look forward to a Dave's Pick release of one of these shows.

yesterdays song 11/12

oops posted that already on yesterdays. but to retract my last comment it didn't turn out to be so hard, there were just a few shows that i was not going to be able to listen to to be able to verify my guess, but as later posted once again there it was...

i'd vote for this to be a dave's picks too
