haha, honestly, I don't think it was greed and/or complaining. We all have a serious love for this music and just got excited about it.
When you go to a show, don't you have a few songs in your head that you'd LOVE to hear that night?? I can almost guarantee that you do! Heck, we used to sit around before a show and literaly write out two sets with an encore and see who got the most right! Haha, you'd turn to your buddy when they went into Stella and yell, "CALLED THIS ONE!!!" and everyone would lose themselves in the song!! This past October at Red Rocks for Furthur I had Help>Slip>Franklin's to close set 2 with a Brokedown encore. NAILED IT!! Haha, seriously fun time!
Anyhow, my point is, even when they don't play 90% of the songs we all pick, they make you really happy about the ones that they DO play! Same with 30DOD!
Didn't expect 2 versions of Lazy Lightning>Supplication to turn up in the contest. But it is so and no complaints from me. It's all good and has been a great month of free music. Thank you so much, but now I have some fun to get back to... One more trip through my Deadbase and the Archive to try and guess the date. You are the best!

I heard this song was written because Barlow was running up a giant hilled road and a storm was following, and boom lighting started to hit....as he (maybe it was Bobby at the same time) started back down the hill the storm was just churnin'

It's interesting that you mentioned that story. I was just thinking about a Bob Weir interview yesterday where he discussed it at length. I may very well be wrong, but I think he was running and the resulting song was Saint of Circumstance (and possibly Lost Sailor). That being said, my memory could be playing tricks on me. I am also having a difficult time indentifying the interview source.

I think it was a bonus feature on one of the concert DVD's - Bob told the same story but it went along with Lost Sailor>Saint of Circumstance. He said how the storm was like a purple-headed elephant coming up the hill with thunder roaring through the valley. He said he was running down the hill taking off his watch and belt buckle and looking for any kind of cover from the lightning. The thought came to him "I sure don't know what I'm going for, but I'm going to go for it, for sure!" The interview may have been from Closing of Winterland, Grateful Dead Movie, or more likely - Dead Ahead. But I honestly can't remember until I watch the DVD again - and it's about time I do!
