Didn't want to hint at this yesterday, but UJB>Miracle is the first 30 DoD repeat for this year. Well sorta. 2011 included UJB alone, but it's oh so fun to have the beautiful transition and a rockin' Miracle, too! Thanks Dave!
but It's proven not to be easy for me anyway, can't wait until Monday when I'll have a Deadbase in hand
that was fun.
love that hammond
Found this one really quickly after just a bit of sleuthing. Whether it takes all day or 5 minutes to find the prize, it's all so fun, huh?! We're so lucky to have this gift every year.
I think yesterday’s answer should have been what was on both the tickets and backstage passes for that show. Here is a link to an actual ticket:
Clearly it is Oakland Coliseum Arena as it says in deadbase and deadnet’s own archive, here: http://www.dead.net/show/december-28-1988
The J. Garcia site has the hyphenated Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum:
https://jerrygarcia.com/show/1988-12-28-oakland-alameda-county-coliseum… As did the LMA.
And what, there were there like five possibilities on the list to choose from, and the answer is “Coliseum Arena”...?
A popular song, the riff to which, every beginner guitar player learns, has something in common with today’s answer!
Two venues in one! Coliseum is outdoors no ceiling. Arena is indoors. Situated next to each other.
There's only a narrow window of time (and therefore only a handful of Truckin openers) for this particular version...
One of the few times I've been able to get it on 1st try.
Have a Grateful day everyone :)
Took me a while ...Having enjoyed this contest for many years with relatively short search times, I felt mad, or rather somewhat embarrassed it took me so long (by my standards) today. (~):-)
That reference from Mr. Graham and a quick look at my new DeadBase helped me figure this one out.
I also used the "-Alameda" part in the yesterday's answer as Wiki lists that as the official name, knowing that the tickets stubs and back stage passes said otherwise. Correct, though evidently not eligible for the calendar....26 more chances!
Fun search today and looking forward to hearing this great show!
Re: UJB repeat from yesterday....in 2011 the venue was listed as "Oakland Coliseum Arena". Oh well....I got it wrong (but right) just like many others....it's only a game, though, and all in good fun
I got this great one pretty quickly, 8th try actually, which is a bit of a wonder for me but, I feel I know the area pretty well.
Got the UJB>Miracle on the first try. I love that during the hunt, we re-discover hidden gems. So much fun!
...makes you howl like a hippie
I entered in what was on the ticket stub and it was still wrong.. weird.. :/
Yesterday’s confusion could’ve easily been addressed just by using logic. The Dead didn’t play stadium shows in the month of December. Fall/Winter tours were generally played indoors in those months and the stadium/outdoor venues were mostly played in the summer. I know there are one off’s but generally speaking, December shows were held in arena’s.
Love the Bill Graham intros. I could listen to those all day. I couldn't really come up with a good hint today. Although I feel someone in this forum probably will.
trying to figure that one out
Yesterday’s confusion is not due to the indoor vs outdoor or coliseum vs arena. The show was indoors and it was at the Oakland Coliseum Arena. The confusion exists as to whether or not the “-Alameda” should be added after “Oakland”, as that was the official name at the time (according to Wikipedia), but not what was printed on the tickets for the show. I would say that both answers are correct by geography and time. It is the nomenclature that is throwing us off. I suspect this was done on purpose....part of the fun, and gives us all something to banter about!
Coliseum Arena and Oakland Coliseum Arena were separate options as well, so at least 3 names for the same building.
Yeah, I went official even though I know the Alemeda was not there … damn. Disappointing!
Velvety smooth, even.
from the pranksters pulling the levers at dead.net. Turlock indeed! Found with a little extra effort but enjoyed the finding immensely. Today reminds me how much I really love that mothertruckin' Truckin' song!
Even though I have this one in my collection, it took me a little while to confirm,
Truckin' in Turlock! Easy Answer if you poke around...
And I'm sure on this night, Irv agreed with him. I'll bet Irv still hangs around his baby, only now he says "Aloha"!
If I got this one right, this would be the second offering from David et al from this show for 30 DoD. Takes me back to my first vinyl bootleg (right venue, but not same day). "Hey, none of that 'wanna buy a watch?' ($%&#)"
I forgot to download days 2 & 3, where are they? The old site had them right there.
Found them! Right in front of my face!
That's right! You got it!
Was it "Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Arena" or just "Oakland Coliseum Arena" both are the same venue.
This was such an awesome audience tape back in the 90's!!!!! Happy anniversary....
took a bit, but I got it(:
So where did you guys move the answers?
Scroll down below the comments to find the answer for the previous day's song.
Then there's a box below that titled "PAST DATES" where you can click on individual days (e.g., Day 1, 2, 3...) to see the answer for that day and also to see comments just for that day.
I'm still getting used to the website changes, too. Liking some, but not liking others! For instance, I'm posting this note as a "Reply" to your post, but the replies now just show up in the long string instead of under your original post, so it's hard to know who's responding to who. Maybe that can be tweaked by the website folks!?
Not sure why there's so much confusion over yesterday's venue. Coliseum Arena, Oakland Coliseum Arena, Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Arena, all the same place. I'm not even sure why we need to specify the venue, if you get the date right, that says it all.
Was great I grabbed some french fries with ketchup and it felt great to be there.

Cued the shot up straight & did not leave a mark. A funny thing happened... when I tried to sync Uncle Bill's voice up in 2 players.
Great sound on all instruments. Always liked this run.
for all the music and the beautiful intros !
Thanks for this!
- Wow! Never one of my favorite songs, but this one hits it! And for perhaps the first and only time the Archive recording syncs perfectly - quite a treat.
- Too young to catch this show, but boy do I miss Bill Graham. Things your momma should have warned you about: don't ride in helicopters in storms!!! Anyway, a big shout out to all of you who experienced the memorial concert for Bill at the Polo Grounds in Golden Gate Park. Still one of the most powerful experiences ever - I'll always remember those flowers falling from the sky and cascading over all of us. Priceless!!
Ahhh, thanks for the memory!! I was there, too. And yes, what an amazing day, moment, concert, tribute. And I still have the flower that fell from the sky that day into my hands! It reminds me of all of US—of all who were there along the way, who were there that day, who are here now, who are family. And I remember Jerry's memorial at the Polo Field, too!
Love, peace & light to us all. Keep on Truckin'!
May the four winds blow you safely home!
You just cracked me up.
