when u see a rare combo that u know exactly what show it has to be from...
no help needed & nothing to cry about...
happy hunting... ace.
another chunk of sweet music. i'm truely diggin the album we got coming together here so far. even if the answers come too quickly. not counting the first two which i totally fumbled. but as it goes-it's nobody's fault but mine.
side bar- is it just me running on windows xp on a computer beyond it's years , or is the comments section just out of whack?
cause i have no idea whats going on.
i'm just happy the game works.
Hey Hornsby, no it's not you or your pc. Comments have been wonky since Day 1 this year. Kinda frustrating. I'm slowly figuring it out, but tis a challenge! Without getting too detailed here, it's really crazy making to try to follow comments on the main page, www.dead.net/30daysofdead. It's easiest to see comments by clicking on each day's song name. But then to "Reply" to someone you gotta click on "Search Comments" box to get there. And then the Reply box doesn't line up so well with the posting, so you have to look closely.
SO...like you, I'm mostly just listening & enjoying the tunes! So, back to groovin' with today's duo!
hi Hornsby !
you're right, the comments postings are weird this year.
as others have mentioned, it's making more sense if you are either in each day's page, or posting a comment yourself. then you can see replies etc.
good to see you and all the other regulars (thanks, kutsavi!) here again. hope you've had a nice autumn.
good to be back and good to see all the familiar faces
(in screen name form)
even if i just have to poke around to find y'all
c'monn day 7 !!
edit: ok that was a reply and it went up here so hello.
day 7 posted. can't wait to hear the comments about this one
Synced so sweetly in left and right ears....
These song weren't link together that much so it makes it pretty easy to figure out
Archive.org has it as Electric Theater ,here its listed as Kinetic Playground both are correct according to the flyer I found google searching it said Electric Theater Company presents at Aaron Russo's Kinetic Playground
Only Kinetic Playground is correct. Same building, but the Electric Theater changed names on April 3, 1969 after a lawsuit from the Electric Circus in NY. Since this show occurred after April 3rd, the room was called Kinetic Playground, even though the promoters kept the original name for their company.
Fun. Here's a little game challenge for ya. See if you can get this one on the first try. Actually, in the end, there's only one possible choice. ;)
One of my favorite lines ever.
For all the shows I saw, I never saw the boys in this part of the country. The other side was where it all happened for me. Not a difficult one today. Not at all.
Easy Answer today. Now time to get in line and vote.
Almost 90 minutes of tasty morsels in just 6 days, thanks Dave....this year is starting off great
How does today's 'Hint' offer any clue about where this was played???
Yeah this one reminds us of the songs' origins, but then we already knew that, didn't we? Not one iota of real help!
Here's an idea: solicit hints from the clever folks who frequent these comments! Now THAT would be an interesting contest!
I love sleuthing out the clever hints that people leave in comments! Makes the game what it is! On the other hand, comments that give too much away ruin the fun for everyone. So keep those good ones coming!
The site's "hints" are often not really hints.
Most of the time they are trivia, captain obvious observations etc.
Don't read too much into them.
Not complaining tho. They know that people can search the entire WWW for answers.
Ever grateful, I’m with you, but it does make me want to listen to the other ones. Jamgol, those “hints” are never really hints, or are they??
very rarely do the official hints lead the way
Election Day! My favorite day of the year. Vote!
Assuming of course that I am not upset for nothing...it was so easy to find the show today that i am crying with joy for the first time in almost 18 years
I used to frequent the Electric Theater / Kinetic Playground pretty much weekly. It was either there or the Aragon Ballroom. 5 dollars for 3 well known acts. Ah, those were the days. Roughly the equivalent of 1 - 2 hours pay at the time. Great times, great memories of those venues.
It’s nice to see that the condos sitting on the site of the Electric Theater/Kinetic Theater/Rainbo Roller Rink are called the Kinetic Condos!
I'm loving these daily searches. Today was the first time I got in on my initial search. Thanks for the tunes!
Don't see a link to get them.
This might be redundant but I just realized that the comments on the main page are strictly chronological, at least on my system. But, on the daily page comments that are replies are indented below the original comment. Just sayin'.
Yep, much easier & more fun to read comments & replies when you click on the song of the day. Took me a while to discover that, too. Now the replies follow the comments. Yay!
if yesterday's selection was a curveball, then today's is a big, fat, center cut softball. I suspect most of us DeadHeads around here will smack this one way out of DeadNet Park. But fun to listen to nonetheless, and to quote our pal Bob, "always a hoot!"
not too hard if you just Poke around a bit
Part of the fun of the game is reading what lies within the depths of the Comments! Often those clever folks drop a cloaked hint here, a tidbit there for us to stumble upon. That trail of crumbs that leads us up to paradise. Looking for choice hints is kinda like the search for the music itself...The fun is in stumbling upon the gems, whether a clever hint, or finding the song of the day.
AND, btw, it's ALWAYS more fun to find the cleverly crafted hints than when folks post outright giveaways. Like saying "this one's a repeat". . . That's not cool for people who still want to play that day. But sayin' it without actually sayin' it, if you know what I mean, is the challenge. Plus it's fun to try to formulate a hint without giving away too much.
So, happy sleuthing & searching!
...to strike that fine balance between posting a hint that's clear enough so that everyone who already got it will realize how smart I am for getting it too... or, posting a hint that's so subtle that you might read my post and not get it yourself and maybe not even realize that I'm actually hinting and not realize how smart I am for getting it...
Know what ya mean. Sometimes I do completely miss a hint. But then once I find the song myself & go back over the comments, I get a good laugh when I see it staring at me & realize how smart y'all are. That's a blast, too!
Yep. Got that right.
Jerry almost slipped up later in this show and nearly forgot a very important jam!
Listening to show now, just caught that, whoa! Fun show, though.
I find with these that I can usually get it in the right year or within one if there is some similarity between years within the first 30 seconds or less. Keyboard is a go to dead giveaway. But the guitar tones are also a great directional clue. Then it's just a matter of a quick run through the shows w/ that song or song combo. I was a year off with my first guess on this one. Fun game to play!
so the rules say get venue and date correct get entered into the daily comp for the calendar and also be entered into the pnw boxset giveaway,my question is does everyone that got the answer correct get entered into the pnw boxset giveaway or do only the daily winners get entered? because I have guessed correctly on 5 out of the 6 ( was off by a couple months on day 1) I'm wondering if I have 5 chances of winning the boxset (so far) or 0 chances
I had fun playing along for the first time last year. It's much easier to narrow it down now. I love the show this Black-Throated Wind/Deal is from. I don't have a lot of shows from this period, but the soundboard to this one is fairly good. By searching through all their shows, I always find some big ones to add to my collection.
Guitar tone and intro are the hints that helped me. Dead loved to play there
Don't you let that DEAL go down !!!!!!
Wait until that DEAL come 'round
I personally think it's High Time for a new High Time!!
Pick a girl dammit!!
