Days Of Dead

I Know You Rider

Alfred, NY, Alfred College
This was recorded the night before Harpur College, and features the acoustic Grateful Dead harmonizing beautifully on a song that was interchangeably joined electrically with China Cat and played acoustically like this during this era

I knew this one right away besides how many shows could there be that didn't have China cat attached in front of it or if it was attached to have Bob Talking in between that would be unusual to say the least ,of course I know if it was or wasn't attached to China but I don't want to make it any easier than it already was

Me too. By cosmic coincidence, (maybe?) I was listening to my recording of this show just days prior to the start of this year's 30 DOD. Several wonderful acoustic versions of songs from this event.
A billionaire had his loyal butler drive us to the show and afterward return us to his estate for a toga party, which were popular at the time.

These rare, acoustic stand-alone Riders have a haunting quality to them that I just love. Plus the extra verse, "I'd rather drink muddy water, sleep in a hollow log/than stay here in Frisco, be treated like a dog". Batting 1.000 in this easy year thus far. Hope we get a hot Cassidy or a dreamy Stella Blue this year for a change!

And another first try today. This show should be an official release. Arguably the best show of it's kind. I like it better than the next night, which we all know is stellar.

I'm surprised for have so long been in the repertoire, BT Wind and Deal weren't played together more often (only 1 other time 8-4-74). Perhaps it had something to do with BT Wind being dropped for 16 years, from 1974-1990. Still, they could have been paired more often those final 5 years...

Decided to check out this date & now I'm listening to the whole show. So fun to get lost in 30 DoD!

Wow, an odd, but historic show. Some bluesy rockin tunes backing Bo Diddley singing, especially "Bo Diddley" & "Mannish Boy." And it was Donna's 1st show. And the only "How Sweet It Is" by the band. What a treat.

Glad they went with this show. Yes, it is definitely worthy of release. Instrument & vocal quality on this song alone is crystal clear. Seek out the whole recording.

mjb asked: "help! how can i go back to get days 2-5 of the current 30 days??"

just some wonderful ear candy. I didn't know this one existed before today so thank you, thank you, thank you to Lemieux, Dead.net and the streaming/searching services for this one! Hint- A hardware analogy for all you workin' people out there: Sometimes when the home depot doesn't have the part you need, you might have to hop over to the ace hardware to find what you need.

This year is the first time I've participated in 30 Days of Dead and I love it. I just listened to the entire show this track is from and I love it. What a great gift this is for fans!

Good God. I was going around in circles. I thought this might be one of the infamous lost shows, but not so. I just had to poke around a little more. Hope Dave releases this show someday in the future. Acoustic Dead is a real treat!

Man, this one had my head spinning for a minute. I've listened to the night after countless times, but had no idea this one existed. Hint.....Don't count on your old DeadBase XI!

I've been using setlists.net to help me figure these out and this show doesn't come up when you search for I Know You Rider. Narrowed it down to a small window, but then checked every show in that period (some multiple times just to double check). One of the hints someone mentioned earlier lead me to check another date on archive and I finally found it!

of why Deadbase 50 is such a handy tool ALL prior editions have a uncomplete setlist for this date (song not listed) and from I've read in comments so do some websites, but Deadbase 50 has the complete setlist not sure if its still going on but last week on Azamon you could buy it half price with code DBTREAT50 I ordered one,it came 2 days ago and I will say its made this game much easier, this date happen to be easy for me since I listen to this show A LOT!

Chresus Jist...without the comment hints, I was stumped....without a DB50 and some clue as to the incomplete setlist, how do you figure this one out? I had the year narrowed down but this date wasn't even in the Every Time Played section..

I thought it would be easier if I had a Deadbase, but I found this one pretty quick with just a google search and relisten.

Hey Rose..Just curious but what google topic did you use?
I tried at least 10 different searches and never got anything useful.

I gave up. Life's too short. My few years I had it narrowed down to struck out. I'm not spending more than a half hour on this. Back at 'em tomorrow.

How come there aren’t more than 3 years of 30 days of the Dead on Spotify. I made a compilation, but I wish it had all of the years On there. And time to go dive into my deadbase when I get home

Been a fan of the following night for awhile, but have never listened to this show - the Charlie Miller board on relisten/archive is awesome. Love the discovery. Perfect streak this November so far. Hoping that I may one day get the prize...

    Cumberland

Finally found the right show... when Cumberland came on, my 4 year old daughter said “pause it Papa! I need my tutu.” So I did, and we danced. Thank you Jerry, Bob, Phil, Pig, Billy, and Micky. Still making magic happen after all these years...
