30 Days of Dead November 13
------ TURN OFF FUTURE & FORM -----
It's with deep appreciation and gratitude for you, the fans, that we'll be giving away an MP3 download every day this month. That's 30 days of unreleased Grateful Dead tracks from the vault, selected by Dead archivist and producer David Lemieux! Intrigued? We're also going to put your knowledge to the test and give you the chance to win some sweet swag from the Dead.
Guess the venue and date correctly and you'll be automatically entered to win our Grand Prize - a prize pack featuring our 2014 releases, merch, and more.
Every time I try to download I am directed to a spam site, has someone hijacked the above download link??
Any chance of this being loaded in 320kbps instead of 192kbps?
Albany, NY, Knickerbocker Arena
will get an official release soon
This is one sweet nugget! Thank you :) :) :)
Not often the Dead came to play in your backyard... (or even a few miles from your home). Well unless you lived where I did. Where is it I lived in 199?. Guess you'll know soon enough... ;-) I believe I even made a failed attempt at taping this show. :-p
..but I found it after a few clicks. Overshot it a hair at first, but the giveaway for me was the 3-4 secs of Bobby strums after Loose Lucy - gave me the next song and narrowed it down by a lot!
This is the second time that the next song has helped in 13, though this one was less obvious.
It don't take much to get the word around!!
Would love to see a Terrapin in the remaining 17 days. Even if its 172 1/2 kpbs's
It is incredibly dispiriting to see the constant whining here about the nature of this gift. Oooh! It's only 192 bits. Damn! They repeated a song from a prior year. Who was raised to receive a gift and complain that it isn't good enough?
Here's my humble suggestion: Just say "Thank you."
If you want a different bit rate or different songs, go buy a CD. They have hundreds for sale.
One man's "cut your whining" is another man's "if you've got a job to do, do it right." Releasing a 192kbps version of a song is sloppy work, releasing a repeat of a previous year is sloppy work. It's not whining to point it out. I don't agree with the "shut up and take what you're given" perspective - that's seldom a good path to take.
I posed a question and, in fairness, you answered it.
Second day in a row I found it on the first click. Feeling serendipitous to have extra free time to listen to the entire show. My first live Lucy was fall tour at MSG. Third year playing along, third November reinvigorated through the process, and feeling connected to those playing along as if we were all at a show enjoying the same experience, each of us interpreting in our own way; a collective journey of individual proportions. Peace, Love & Lemieux
what a short trip it was

I'm still waiting for a St. Stephen, but I don't keep my hopes up
I'm still waiting for a St. Stephen, but I don't keep my hopes up
Don 't forget Eyes of the World.
In 2011 they put up a nice Wharf Rat from 7/29/74 at the Capital in MD. It had the nice long lead in intro from Spanish Jam. I would love to see a Stella or Terrapin. Also wouldn't mind a Crazy Fingers thrown in there too.
Haha didnt notice it in my iTunes, it being under S for Spanish jam> Wharf Rat, and not W.
Crazy Fingers would be nice too
Today's 30 Days of the Dead download was only a 192kbps (aka CD quality) file. All the others have been 320kbps, file archive and audiophile quality. Does anybody know why this happened, and if it will continue?
There a fix on the way? Still at 192kbps. thanks for the tunes really enjoying this so far! :)
Low bit rate songs in 30 D of D were from releases due in the next year.
Could also be a mistake like day one was.
Check out 1972-05-19 - Memorial Coliseum - Portland OR
74 right? Good stuff indeed!
looks like they were in europe then????
Well, this version of Loose Lucy is better than I thought it would be - there ya go...
Well, this one hasn't shown up in at least the last two 30 Days sets.
Your right, its actually a 1st now that you mention it. Didn't show up in 2010 either.
Thought this one was gonna be a real quick and easy one I could do before work got started . Now, I just want to go home on this cold fall day and tackle it with a big bowl and some hot cocoa. Had a bunch of free time and got myself ready for a long search on the day they used Playin' In The Band only to find it almost immediately. I was almost sad I found it so fast. Either way I'm loving it, the best game ever! Doing better than ever this year too, 10 for 12 so far. Cream Puff stumped me and never had the chance to enter for Sugaree. With all my heart, "thank you, for a real good time!"
for the excellent but subtle clue below--not sure I'd have gotten this one without it.
Congratulations..... and Thank You.
Wow, that one took a bit of patience today. I thought it would be a piece of cake considering the 1990 bust out did not leave too many years left of Loose Lucy. Great song
It's the one we think are going to be easy that end up being the harder ones, and the ones we think will take all day that end up being easy. Go figure.
For making me late to work!!!
Early morning version is at 192.
Listening to that opening groove I just want to sing Bang a Gong by T.Rex.
Gang a Bong, Gang a Bong, GET IT ON!!!
i have been trying to change my image on my profile. trying to mix things up a bit. unfortunately, the system keeps showing the original image that i uploaded (jerry as santa). i've tried a bunch of different things and it always shows my original image. has anyone been able to successfully change their profile image? how did you do it??? thx
In edit profile, delete current image, upload new (has to be 400x400 or less, and no more than 256k or won't be accepted).
I tried that (again). image was WAY less than 256 kb and size was less than the 400x400 and more than the minimum 50x50. definitely stumped here. maybe the administrators will see this and comment.
I am having trouble too. Still trying to figure out a way to troubleshoot.
thought i was goin' crazy for a minute there
i just added a photo for the first time. seems to be working?
Lucky I got to hear LL in both early days and latter days. I noticed from today's hint that was a lot of days between shows.
There's a pretty good clue already posted. Gonna compare this version to a few from '74 and see what I can see. Seems like it changed a bit over the years.
Not as familiar with L Lucy as other tunes. Had a good time listening to different versions! Like this one from Sports "wannabe".
