That's two Pittsburgh Civic Arena shows in this years thirty days of dead that need to be released.
Jerry's guitar doesn't want to quit! That Estimated solo REALLY spreads its wings and takes off in a kaleidoscope of beautiful sound.
This combo is delish.
Love me some early Brent too!
Nice ode to California today, Lemieux and Co. Hope everyone is safe out on the Golden shore.
What a monster! What a great way to start the day! There are some great clues to help narrow down the possibilities. Which is a good thing, because there are scores of this configuration over a five year period. I guess after nine years of this I'm getting pretty good because I found it pretty quickly. Does that make me a champ?
I know I'm closeeee and the clues have helped...I love this time of year!
I'd say so. Everybody's a winner in my Eyes when there's FREE and BEAUTIFUL music to be had!
Great combo today, I wish I had more time to search. Just cant narrow it down... Love The Wahhhhhh....
I know I'm wrong, but I think I got the correct year. My boss wants me to work, imagine that. I still be listening though.
This one took a while but I finally found it.
I was off for a bit, then when I thought I found it, the timing seemed off, but it's there. And it's pretty easy to love this version.
Nicely synced up. I either read or heard commentary, or both, from David that the band seemed to almost always play Grate shows at this venue.
SMALLz-- Hahaha. I see what did there. Nice one!
Sounds like the boys may have had some pep in their step on this night, and from the sound of it, Jerry ripped a line right in the middle of Eyes.....that solo goes from 0-60 in a split second!
It's T for Texas, yes and it's T for Timbuctoo
It's T for Texas, yes and it's T for Timbuctoo
Yes and it's T for this lucky city
Where those little fillies know what to do
O brother this took me through one year and then the next one was right.
Jerry's classic effect on Estimated (and many other songs) is from the mighty Mutron Envelope Filter pedal. It's not a wah-wah pedal where you have to rock the foot back & forth on a pedal the entire time. An envelope filter is a stand alone guitar effects pedal where you set the knobs and it automatically does the "wah" sound for you.
20 or 30 years and see only shows from one place, this particular place would be it! Something about this place must have electrified and energized the band, because I've heard more tight performances from there than just about anywhere else. Now I'm waiting for this year's 30DOD to offer another one of my favorite songs that's closely tied to this spot. Waiting and listening!
when I heard the crowd cheer after 'California' @ 1:14. Followed that lead to a fruitless conclusion then began again. Didn't take too long to find it with try and try again and the pre-song tinkering at the end of the song before Estimated helped me to nail this one..the synch up was the fun part ... sitting in an echo chamber...check out the whole show...YOWZA!!
Wow i just saw i won yesterdays, very beautiful. Little ray of sunshine with whats around here in LA. Thanks Dave and Dead.net for these nuggets.

Got to have Lovin'
Parts of this show was in the tapers section and the vault master seems to run a bit too fast.
The clue with the synonym of the venue and the sound of the band led me right there. thanks to all.
So far we still have a unique year for each of the 30 Days of Dead offerings in 2018! Pretty cool...keep it up Dave!
I was late to the contest today and found all y’all’s hints, if that’s what they were, far too opaque for my meager cognition, so I lumberd off to the vault lonely and undernourished. The length of the suite, the sound of Jerry’s voice, and the obvious keyboard player got me to the right year pretty quickly. On the whole, I rather be back there.
24 minutes of pure GD jaming Happy Thanksgiving to all of us!
Estimated Prophet followed by Eyes is an outstanding combo
Always 2 of my favorites. Bobby flubs the jam at the end of Estimated but Jerry takes it up to another level and Brents playing here is sublime. Its such a sweet version the minor flub can be forgiven.
I'm right there with you. That's how it went down for me as well this morning. That cheer was nice. The noodling at the end was were I went for additional clues, too. Who was it you suppose that had to sit down around beat 5 of the count-off to Estimated anyway?
Break inducing for me at least, but I think I got it! Good luck, players...
Lou Brutus was here, maybe.
I have a game that i've played with myself for years called 'name that year', starting with David Gans radio shows where he'd air full concerts to now being spoiled with Sirius XM where i can instantly see right or wrong on the dashboard. I pride myself on this rare talent but sadly, it does not transfer into 'marketable skills'
This particular year for me always stands out by the keyboards. Within the first few notes I thought I knew for sure and went to archive dot org searching for estimated prophet. Surprisingly, a lot of them were in the first set and were not followed up with Eyes so they were immediately eliminated. I stuck with my gut about the year and the first estimated -> eyes that was in the second set was the winner. The first couple of notes had that signature keyboard but confirmed close to 6 mins in with the bobby coming in too early on the chorus and Jerry kept going for another round. I usually spend way too much time on this '30 days of dead' 'daily challenge', if i succumb to the temptation, but this one was my easiest yet.
This venue's shows always mind boggling and great sound!
Listening to this makes me realize how completely blessed I was to experience these guys in this year and those years. We knew for sure it was magic. I realize now, we could never have realized just how magical it was to get to live during this time.
This is an treat and if you seek out the whole concert then a bonus from the start. Thank you David!
Magical times? You got that right!
I think we all knew those were special times and we were riding the crest of a wave eh? But its often the way with life.....you never know just how good you have it till its gone.
Finally found it! Despite all the comments supposedly dropping hints (too hidden for me, but thanks for the love my brothers and sisters), i'll admit I just got lucky on this one.
usually my guess is made b4 heading to bed around 130am here in SF, but today my guess was just entered...
much thanx & praises to those folks with the helpful hints:
2 references to songs that were played @ this show

My Favorite non Estimated>Eyes was an Estimated> Uncle Johns in Richmond 85, I do not think I ever saw that combo again. Waiting for a Wharf Rat, way down, down, down by the docks of the city. Embarcadero!!! The sound on this one today is crystal clear thanks Dave.
