This one is easy especially if you have a Deadbase
Half way through the month, and still no sign of Pigpen. Disgraceful...……………….
Saving the best for last?
If this had been Throwin' NFA it would have been harder, I kept finding lots of them... Doesn't reprise mean it was played earlier? Throwin' WTF. I saw a 2012 comment by Hornsby on the setlists.net entry for this show - was that our Hornsby?
This unique combo and the era from which it comes make for easy pickins today. The reprise is of a Playin' from an earlier show; they sometimes did that with these latter-day PITBs (and Dark Star for that matter).
Speaking of Hornsby...the Bruce was strong on this tour!
Can we see what we previously guessed? From 4 days ago? or any for that matter? Anyone know?
That was more of a gimme than yesterday. This has been a popular month for shows over the years on 30 Days of Dead.
Well actually, not much of a hunt today as I think there is only one possible answer?
Always loved Throwing Stones, and seems more relevant these days than it ever has....
Big shout out to Doc...Glad to see you're still pokin' around here! I thought we heard Pigpen's Hammond on Day 5, no?, but unfortunately no raps....yet! If Dave gets back to bouncing around years then hopefully that will change soon! Some Pigpen from '68, or '71 perhaps, may help your blues?
Speaking of illusions.....Maybe Dave's affinity for this particular year is an allusion for what's to come next year. I for one would love to see a Hornsby show get the full Norman, for either a Dave's Pick, or maybe even a small Hornsby box set...It's dizzying, the possibilities!!!
Rock On All!
They're giving us some pretty easy ones this year. I'm sure as soon as I say that, they'll give us something devious that takes me hours to get, but for now I can sleep in and still have time to get it right.
Didn't even have to turn the page!! LOL
but i like that there are comments available here.
version of both these songs, especially Throwin' Stones. Very spare, nothing fancy but beautifully clean and not an unnecessary note anywhere. In other words, just exactly perfect, for me anyway. Thanks for this one Dave!
Thanks Dave for giving us so much great 1990s Grateful Dead music on 30 Days this year. It's always a pleasure to hear some nuggets from late-era Dead.
Surprising how great Jerry's voice at this show. Has a touch of that youthful sweetness that would be long gone by the end of 1981. Great tempo on the Eyes too, not too fast, not too lopey.
Agree bitg, very clean.
Especially digging Phil's sound.
Wowie zowie. I'm only through the first five days, but to my ear, this is pretty easily the hottest stuff they've ever gifted us with. Thank you, oh mighty Powers-That-Be!! :)
In Minnesota, today is Give to the Max Day, where some people donate to charities and non-profit organizations. So I will make my annual plea on here for everyone to right now go donate to the Rex Foundation and Archive.org, please. Is this our only chat space at this point? There isn't any chatting at the two most-recent Dave's Picks pages . . .
Some real gems this year. Pleasantly jarring going from 'Stones to PITB, my memory keeps wanting to carry me into Not Fade Away but the music says, hey, psst, over here man.
"Ashes, ashes all fall down". As we suffer through yet another day of ash and smoke in California, we grieve for those who have lost everything. So, thankfully, we can still rejoice in the music.
Nice, unexpected combo; after a slightly jagged segue, just gotta love that subdued, beautiful interlude heading into PITB. Thanks Dave, we needed this!
Only attended the first night of this run.
Geez, Bobby's guitar is really out of tune near the 6 minute mark.
Yep. That Bob moment made me really take note of the overall "digi-board-tape" sound of tapes from this era & helped steer me to the year & tour.
Full of Hope Full of Grace are my guesses on these 30 Days. If a man among you got no sin upon his hand, let him cast a stone at me for Playing 30 Days of Dead!! This certainly helps get through November in Cheeseland. Go Pack!!
close one tonight ,but the Hawks came through for the win GO SEAHAWKS!
This occurred in a part of the Dead Belt.
as far as i could tell there was only one choice. which turns out to be rather fortuitous since the old pc was down up to less than an hour to go.
thanks for the easy lob and some more killer tunes
i've even got time to catch the simpson's before i get to start again.
