30 Days of Dead November 2
Anyone know the Date and Venue for the Easy Wind featured on November 2, 2017? Dead.net just gives the same answer for the November 1 song twice. Thanks!
Hey now!~ fully enjoying the 30 days game, first time playing. Missed Easy Wind even after trying hard.. not sure why the hint says Hint: A track played almost 50 times live 1969-1971, debuted just a few days before this version...
but when I used "the setlist program" website it said the debut was this family dog show so that is why I eliminated it. I see that I am using an out of date listing for research because it does not show 50 versions only 36 so can someone guide me to the more up to date data base please??? thanks!!!
From an old school old guy...
It would be truly nice to have CD label art as well as jewel case art... OR at least have something to adapt to that. The current jewel case art can't be clipped to fit a CD...
So, yesterday someone posted the link to my website where all of the 30 Days tunes and album art since 2010 is available for download:
Deadheads crashed my server :-) Usually the site reaches its bandwidth max toward the end of the month, and it's easy to throw some money at the hosting provider to up the available bandwidth. THIS year, what with 7 years of archives, the site reached its 300GB max in ONE DAY! I can't help laughing, that's just so cool.
Shameless plea in hopes that it's not against the rules here to ask: I put a PayPal Donate button on the page. If you visit and download, or just want to donate a miracle, it would be incredibly kind if you just threw a buck or two toward keeping the archive available. Thank you! For a real good time :-)
I've been looking for the 2010 series forever! It had been on Deadroots.com, but had been taken down. So cool to have the whole set now!
Thank you from London

So they could get to it. Gotta love Pig.
I hadn't heard the show this is from, and I'm really liking it. An obscure hint is that Jerry sings lead on a song usually sung by Pigpen (and later by Bobby) in that show!
Good point. I was really lovin' that one. And a nice twofer medley of some mega-rare cover tunes, 1 of which had 4 known live versions & almost a 14 year gap between the last 2 performances.
Whew! this one had me all bass ackwards for a little while. Probably due to my lazy searching but eventually kept poking around and then it hit like the proverbial 900,000 tons-o'-steel as they say.
Grate to know everything you need is right here!
Most enjoyable listening as well.
Probably my favorite Pig tune! I wish this tune had got more love from the boys. As for getting this right, don't trust Deadbase IX for accuracy on when this debuted.
Easy Wind was a psychedelic pirate tune, one for the ages....and it remains impressionable to this very day.
And PIG didn't like Chicklets candied by BEAR.
He found his own way downstream...and raised the sail for all to see
They lobbed another softball at us to ease us into the game. If you take stock it's too weak slate... Very nice quality, Pig's organ squealing away! Rest of the show is sounding great too. Listen to more when you find it! As others mentioned, listening simultaneously to the dead.net version in their player AND another digital version of the correct answer synced up is a lot of fun! If there is a variation in speed betw the 2 versions, the few seconds when the 2 tracks start to drift sounds like a "washing" flanger or phaser audio effect on the entire band. Nothing but caffeine here I might add. Enjoy! Bring on Day 3!
I totally forgot to read the hint this morning. Could have saved myself some time, but then I would have missed out on hearing more versions!
Some cleaner tagging of these files would be awesome. Even just song title, artist and album would be great.
Very sweet UJB yesterday!
Love me some Easy Wind.
i can get bored easy from 60's shows but this one is great.
thanks for the sync info as playing it on relisten at same time was a nice change....am listening to rest of showw and really enjoying this era for the first time.
kudos to Dave for getting pig in early before the we want pig mantra.
2-2 for me, who sometimes is 2-30 i am loving this
c u all tomorrow....eastern time...lol
love the great highway
Just wanted to say thank you. This series is amazing. I look forward to this time of year with a "chill to the wind and a nip to the air" more than ever. Hard to believe this is the 8th year.
I don't think there has been one featured in any 30 Days series.
It would make a very nice birthday present on the 30th:)
Check 2015. They featured it from a 7/13/76 show Orpheum in San Fran.
Crazy Fingers made its first and only, thus far, 30DoD appearance in 2015 from the 7/13/76 show.
To all, in case there are any newcomers or people that have missed it in years past, I have been tracking all the releases in an excel spreadsheet that can be handy for searching or just having for fun in general. It even has some sort buttons built in for year, DoD year, song, or venue (macros must be enabled). Just PM me if you want it, happy to share.
We don't get much Pigpen in any of the 30 Days. Maybe it's because most of them are covers? There's only a few versions where Pig stays on the organ instead of blowin' his harp, giving a lot more room to the guitars. This is a great track. Killer little jam. 30 Days is like being in a Grateful Dead playland all month! Thanks again Dave & Co.
I'm rifling through the comments and folks are posting in the early AM hours. How the heck am I to even have a chance of submitting a winning guess if folks are posting at 3AM EST! Be nice if Dave set a specific time when he drops the clip so we all have an equal opportunity to hear it and submit our guess.
That being said, I love Pigpen and this clip and I love 30 Days of Dead November! Thanks Dave.
Winner is chosen randomly from the correct submissions...so you can sleep in!
What do daily winners receive besides being grate - ful!!
I posted at 6:40 est, which appears as 3:40 pst. I'm not sure when the tune is officially posted.
I believe they are posted at midnight West Coast time.
Always look forward to November for this! Grateful for some Pigpen...
All correct answers posted anytime during the day are part of a lottery, with the daily winner selected at random.
I'm pretty sure it doesn't affect your chances of winning. I think when they choose the winner, they just choose an entry out of all submitters taken as one big pool. The pool is probably considered closed as soon as they open the next pool, so to speak, which then becomes available to submitters, so to speak. ;)
Those of us who post in the "Wee Hours" have just woken up. We live in Europe & its 8am when the songs are released. Also we can't take part in the competition!
What happens if, instead of using the name/address entry that shows up when you're not logged in, you do log in and get the entry form where it already knows who you are and you just enter the date and venue? Has that been tried? Just curious.
Also, I guess my double-entendre about those who submit in the wee-hours either wasn't as funny or wasn't as obvious as I thought. :)
No we can't take part its part of the Terms & conditions that you have to live in the USA. Suppose that there could be a very long way around, find a US address + server etc. but then it'd still have to be posted. Oh yea we'd have to get the date right and then get picked as well, so it's not really worth all the hassle. & it'd be breaking dead rules!
Oh yea wee; English translation "a little Scotland pea" :)
I'm still trying to figure out what song debuted days before this.
No, *it* debuted a few days before this. Got it on the second try. Fingers crossed.
Thanks...i misread it.
I so look forward to November and the 30 Days of music. I have all of the past years on my iPad plugged into my car and always have a daily dose up and ready. The past year I have begun using ReListen and playing my fav tunes from past years on this date, but the sound quality is rarely as fine as these recordings.
I have shared the link on various GD FB groups, so there are definitely more folks accessing this this year. Thanks so much for this and for me, the real start to the holidays!
cool show, am enjoying it immensely right now...
didn't take too much searchin to find it
Great choice! Workingmans Dead is my favorite album, and this song is a BIG reason why - It's great to hear an early version.
Yesterday's 5/26/77 was at least the 3rd song from this show to grace the "Nov. Download Series". We have gotten High Time and Music Never Stopped previously, and perhaps more. This is one that is available in stunning quality outside the Vault, so I'm not disappointed that its been relegated to the "parts" drawer for whatever reason instead of being picked as a standalone release. Great show, though!
Love me some Pigpen! Thanks for this one.
is some fine early raw pig. wow! love it!
Thanks for sharing Dave.
I did my usual thing of comparing a Relisten source with this source, lining them up sonically at the start of the tune for comparison...one source gradually sped up, second by second, creating a really groovy reverb effect that launched Jerry's SG into the stratosphere and created an eight-armed Billy/Mickey - THAT'S the way to listen to this tune!
Oh, and by the way - this is probably the most useful hint that DL has ever given :)
hey now zebweber. hear ya on the match-up reverb..never really use relisten but came through for me today, as my usual channels let me down. went back to check the archives to look there and ended up with all three playing together. a little extra searchin payed off this time. yesterday's hint was pretty handy. its like real hints this year. goodtimes
Yeah, I ended up opting more for Relisten today as well. My Deadbase is not up-to-date with this particular year, and I can't figure how to get archive to list the shows in chronological order since their re-design. There were some versions that we very, very, close. But you got to pay attention to the specific repetition in the lyrics to nail it. But I'm not complaining!
oops double posted
finally some stellar pig and some fine jamming. only pisser is i cant find it. what? i know, right?
had to go outside my usual bag of tricks. or treats. nice
Thanks for the heads up. Some resources out there are outdated.
