that's a nasty splice...
that is nasty
Is it me or are there a LOT of repeats this year? And looks like another one without a live Terrapin...<sigh>
picked what seemed like a good starting point and got about ten shows in and decided to take a break, but not before trying a few shows the other way
the rest is history as they say
sometimes you go down when you should have gone up
I knew she was a beguiling chick, but tucking flowers in her shoes? Billy Joel knows a thing or two about this kind of girl. Several musical and vocal cues up front make this here Scarlet Fire a quick pick.
but I ain't often right about the venue this November.
No quandary here I would think. Love the sound -- bass is gnarly.
Come on guys. You have 2 days left to make this right...
Happiness is Drumming (~) ;}
Ouch, I guess that's a tape flip right at the end of the first jam in Fire. Too bad, that was smokin'!
Once you find today's show, search for some hopeful news about the future of this storied venue.
Love the bass!
But it feels like something's missing--just don't let it pass by.
Gleenco - no doubt, Jerry was so excited that he forgot to go over troubled water before he went on his own! Good to hear the good news about this venue! Love the keys on the Scarlet > Fires from this era.
Most likely due to copyright on cover songs (many of Pig's vocals were on covers) and/or a bulk of '72 officially released material with Pig singing original music already out there (the contest here offers unreleased songs). They could still offer one of his/their originals in the next 2 days.
... tell the whole story here. Instantly isolates a 2 year period for me. JG singing very nicely adding some extra inflections and "air" to the end of words. And another vocal in there that really points to the year or 2.
Sources say the cut is there on the master.
Thanks to My Lightning Too I went right to it. Knew exactly which venue you were referring to as I looked it up a few years ago to see if it was still standing. Saw the last show there, Frank Zappa, and Jerry Band 2 weeks earlier. Saw 5 of the last 6 Dead shows there, the last ones selling out on my birthday January 30th 19...
Maybe I'll state the dates of all this later. Probably too much info this soon in the quest.
pretty easy especially w/ the hints and vocal anomalies
I was a bit stunned I got it right. I did not think I had it but had to cast my guess and hit it. Shocking … onto today.
Can anyone tell us how to download the "cover art" for this year's edition of 30 DoD? Into iTunes, please.
Thanks and twirl on
These are the Mac instructions...I haven't dealt with Windows in years. Click on the song (or if you have them in their own playlist click Edit > Select All; or to select individual songs hold command-A while clicking on individual songs). Right click on a highlighted song, click Song Info, click Artwork. Download the artwork to your desktop by right clicking and clicking Save Image As... or Save Image to the Desktop. Drag the artwork into the Artwork window. Click OK.
That Bird Song was hard to find- especially without a soundboard.
I saw a dozen+ shows at the HCC- including my first show on 10/15/83 that included one of the last performances of St. Stephen. The band always seemed in top form in Hartford.
Many thanks to everyone involved with 30 DoD. I listen to GD music every day, but never as enthusiastically as in November when there’s a calendar up for grabs.
I like how the big cut in Fire was patched in the SBD by bongripper ...might not have even noticed it if he hadn't said so in his comments...well done
5 hours and 51 minutes of great tunes so far this year...this will b a great road trip album
well... with 10 right this year that is good for me, as some of the long searches i opt out of as i dont hear the little differences so well.
thanks to all the regular experts again for so much help and info.
My total after 28 days is 6:04:01, anyway yeah that's a nice length playlist to add to the prior years! Total time over the years has ranged from 4:48 (2015) to 6:58 (2016).
Hopefully everyone remembered to donate to the Rex Foundation and Archive.org yesterday. You still can donate today! :) The 30 Days gifts this year have been the best ever, as far as I'm concerned. Thanks, Dave and Dead!
Tucked into her shoes . I miss those flubs from Jerry
She was just way too cool! LOL Even had scarlet begonias in her shoe. In the long history of the Scarlet/Fire combos, I love the version from this particular era. It's no wonder I love this band so much: The songs & shows were constantly evolving. Thanks to 30 DOD for having me go through the archives & learn more. I'll be bummed when it's over in a few days.
There’s an Ethiopian restaurant across the street (I’ve never bothered) and a very well known jazz club a few doors down (I have bothered). Overall, fun show to listen to. Very nice 2d set.
I've been there before!
From a run of shows two years in a row, got to see one each year. Wonderful venue, good shows, memorable times. What a thrill to hear this again, an extended, somewhat distinctive version (lyrics and all). Thank you so much!
most notably on the fourth of July.
After perusing some articles about said venue's resurrection I see the last show was J. Geils Band concert on Dec. 19, 19xx not the turkey trot Frank Zappa show I saw 3 weeks earlier.
Sorry but this Scarlet-Fire needs an upward pitch correction. That way it would be pleasing to the ear and body rather than being the plodding exercise that it is in this form.
is harder than brain salad surgery, gonna have to pass on this one, I've been too lazy the last few rounds, but still hoping the other 15+ days will get me that box set!
Listened loud in the car and love this tempo, flubs and all. Transition is long and slinky.
cowbells??!!!! There's enough cowbell in this Scarlet Begonias jam to get every cow in Switzerland up and doing the Begonia Boogie. It sure got me movin'! I love Jerry's lyrical indulgences as well. Thanks Dave and Co.!
I was laughing out loud thinking of the new "dancing cows" bumper stickers!
Snowed so hard that the....electricity caved in (past 36 hours), and going to be In The Dark for the next three at least, so here's to being Gratefully Dedicated. Thank you to Dave, dead.net, and you, the dead heads, the most amazing group of fandom the world has ever known, or as Uncle Bobo said, "they may not be the best at what they do, but they're the only ones that do what they do." That applies to you all. May the 4 winds blow you safely home, see you next year.
Check out 7/4/90 for another pretty rare Jerry flub.
Thanks to all for these 30 Days!!!
Thanks to All ...the Grateful Dead for all the music and for welcoming the Tapers providing Dave and team at Dead.net the history to share along with those providing the wealth of resources available on the inter-web of everything and finally to this colorful collection of Fans relating their stories, tips and even the occasional rant against the touch of grey found amongst all these free musical jewels!!
