30 Days of Dead November 29
Thanks, Dave, for all the love and music. Encore!?!
How come the quality of the mp3's dropped on the 26th through the 30th!!! This is a first time this has happened!!! I have all the other years and most of them are 320 mp3's and not 192 mp3's!!! What's up!!! I love what you are doing but please give us high quality music!!! I can get low quality music anywhere on the net, but I expect high quality from the Grateful Dead!!! Thanks for this years "30 days of the Grateful Dead"!!! Awesome selections with some very unique choices!!! Happy Thanksgiving!!!
Thanks Dave! For a fantastic Scarlet-Fire. Can't believe I never heard this one before. Was listening w/ my headphones and just started laughing cause I couldn't smile any wider. My wife just looked at me and said "what's wrong with you" ? I just shrugged and said "these guys are insane!"
Thanks also, for the great 93 Knickerbocker Scarlet-Fire in last week's JOTW and of course the legendary S-F from the Fox on Dave's Picks 8!
My favorite pairing .
I just visited Pitchfork Records in Concord, NH and he had 3 copies of the Family Dog (NH Heads in need?) plus the Zabriskie and the Upsetters' Super Ape!
Check out Jam of the Week. Supa real nice NFA > GDTRFB first of the year and other highlights from this night are Looks Like Rain and Let It Grow
Everyone do yourself a favor and after you find this Scarlet/Fire which probably won't take you too long, do yourself a favor and listen to the next song in the show. A rip-roaring version. One of the many wonderful features of the 30 days of the Dead, sometimes I just keep listening and find something I can't get enough of. Just exactly perfect.
thank you to whoever fixed the 27th downloading problem. I was so exited for that days pick when I saw it. And to all the original Deadheads out there... I am only 30 years old. I was only 12 years old when Gerry died. I think The Grateful Dead is the best band of all time!!! My kids and I (2 and 8) rock out to The grateful Dead every night. Their music will live on forever. No one will be downloading 30 year old shows of todays bullshit music. I love this music and love you all for helping to keep it real!!! Have a good one everybody!!!
How truly surreal. My first show. I was just learning, tangentially, of the Bus, so it would be almost a year before I climbed aboard for good ... a very natural, inevitable thing, really ... no regrets and so, so many indescribable raptures as a result. Even in my “infancy,” this show’s scene, inside and outside the venue, was palpably powerful and magical ... and perhaps that describes the circumstances of many folks’ first 'head'-on encounter? How often does a REAL circus come to town? Looking back, I just didn’t have the background and context needed to fully appreciate this show ... but it really was QUITE good ... and such a relatively small audience compared to what I would typically experience thereafter. Thanks David & Co (& the trading community ... heavens, we're all collectively, magnificently mad) for the revisit and reminder of past ecstacies. We all know perfectly well that we’re more lucky than words can tell to have so much glorious music preserved and shared for our continued enjoyment. Peace.
But you May find an engineer
Oh Lemieux you've done it again.. Love the double shots. Going to miss November
I Hope everyone had a Great Thanksgiving Day!
And for those of you that don't like cigars, and or their smoke... Hell I can beat you with my left hand tied behind my back...
...this show was played on my birthday (I think) though I was far too young to appreciate it at the time. // Hope everyone got a chance to grab their Family Dog vinyl today!
I enjoyed a few tasty brews at a beautiful place 80 miles west of where this Scarlet > Fire was performed, last May.
The link to download the 27th has been broken for two days. Please fix it and you will be my friend forever! Thank you.
Nearby towns might remind you of the Melkweg gigs...
I have been waiting all month for something like this, hopefully the month will end with an Eyes!
And Zabriskies Point soundtrack with more Jerry jams and Pink Floyd demos
We say "il n'y a pas de fumée sans feu"- other funny saying : we also say "don't look at the teeth of a horse someone gave you (MP3 files quality)
Lucy Looses 128 Kb; maybe it is the touch of grey...
Same for Hell IAB, Scarlet and friend OTD.
I will forgive the Alligator, it 's abig file and beautiful performance.
thank you@ deadnet
Listening to this one reminded me of one of the many reasons I love the Dead so much. The drummers are totally crazy throughout most of this. They must change tempo 5 times in the transition. And it's awesome. No other band could do this, right at the edge of collapse/genius, for so long. It made me smile, smile, smile. Thank you for all the music.
Before my time but I hear Hells Angels were banging on anything and everything this evening.
Hot, hot, hot!!!!! Jerry & Bob trading some tasty licks, love it.
Thanks for a great 30 days.
Check out Donna's vocals from minute 6 - Joan Osborne did something like this on a Dark Star - pure gold!
Four days before my first show!
This might not be at the top of the rankings but this version would have a solid RPI.
Where were you when I was trying to decide between 11/10 and 11//11?
Thank you for this and the Alligator>Caution the other day. 53 minutes of music in two days BOOM! I can't wait to get my hands on the Family Dog release today!!
Can someone from dead.net please look into the problem that the files for days 13 and 22 to 29 are all 192kbs rather than the promised 320kbs?
I am neither a discriminating audiophile or very tech about computers, I just listen to music. What is the difference between 192 and 320kbs. I can subtract, I just want to know what it means for the music. Thanks
Probably not much if anything to get all worked up about, unless you do have an audiophile grade system, in which case one would not want anything less than an actual CD. Multiple studies have been done that most people cannot tell the different between 128, 256, or 320kbps.
In practice a 192kbps file is going to have less of the original audio information/quality than that of a 320kbps after encoding and compression. But again, do yourself a test with one song you're familiar with and listen to it at different bit rates. I like to do this with Dark Side of the Moon. Try the Great Gig in the Sky.
With all that said, even if our ears don't tell us anything is missing in a 192kbps mp3 vs 320kbps, our brains might actually be telling us something else.
wait-have I said that before?
On The Burnin' Shore - yeah that's right!
It's Record Store Day!
Buy a vinyl or two at your local record store!
I'm off to Rhino Records!
Easy day! Have a cigar! Woo-Hoo!!!
this one's not 320 either. sort of weird how so many are 192 this week.
Where is the 320? only 192 again.
knew i had it but the tape speeds weren't matching so i kept looking, went through the whole year, couldn't find a better match, came back and heard it in the transition. doubting myself after all these shows, or starting to lose it after 29 days of intense listening, or maybe don't want it to end so kept on looking. grabbed a few killer AUD's in the process, so well worth it. either way....
there can be only one...day 30 really? already?
put out that f'n cigar man
i didn't lite it
whoever got that cigar put it out
that f'n ciger is gonna kill us
I also spent a few hours checking the whole year, before going back near start. Fun way to spend a few hours- Sad to be coming to an end!
