Gurtrude Stein on Oakland:There is no there there.
you missed styx!!! haha, unfortunately they got lumped on to every "dex cards wild goose" show back then around chicago... didn't have the dead for my hometown band like some people i know!!!
Not that the Coliseum is my favorite feature of the place.
As for Gertrude, she was talking about going back to her childhood home and finding it gone. Kinda like Chrissie Hynde.
My grandparents' first house is long gone. In its place--Oakland Chinatown! Which of course covers a much larger area.
... as have quite a few other folks too. So sorry Marye, I'll try to be a bit kinder to Oakland in the future. After all, the Henry J is there! As for Oakland Chinatown, my friend was there yesterday,
He was looking for a place called Lee Ho Fook's
Going to get himself a big dish of beef chow mein
His hair was perfect !

But I'd like to meet his tailor.
The Grateful Dead with Warren Zevon @ campus stadium UCSB I think it was 78????
Did the boys join Warren Zevon doin' werewolves in london, or am I trippin'?----------June 4th 78-------
as I remember it, we (the former cooks @ Winterland) didn't care too much for the music of Styx-loved the Dead & the Southern Rock n Roll bands, though (Lynrd Skynrd, Charlie Daniels, etc) & more GD.......!.....Gypsy Cowgirl
