If only it were that easy. Just part of the price of not requiring marye to perform ex-ante moderation of forum posts as well as fan photos. I'm sure she has much better things to do than to sit on the site all day monitoring whatever blather we all come up with so that it can be released in a somewhat timely fashion. And while the idea of some sort of automated content filtering might seem attractive, trying to actually implement that makes putting together a jigsaw puzzle of a Jackson Pollack without having seen the picture before seem simple by comparison. Spammers are just another variety of schoolyard bullies, and the remedy is the same. Ignore them until they go away.
Conversation is always more interesting than recitation, so speak your mind and not someone else's.
spammer and spam consigned to bit bucket.
Ratsknats owes our intrepid moderator an apology for the unthinking snarky post.
"Sometimes the songs that we hear are just songs of our own."
comes with the territory.
was NOT aimed specifically at marye, I thought it might be read by a someone who is in charge of the site for the Rhino folks. OK, if these spammers are bots, why don't they set up a "captcha" type of thing? Please note this response is NOT, repeat NOT, specifically aimed at mayre. Don't worry pomo1, this will be my last post here.
No need to leave the site. All are welcome here. Its just that we are somewhat protective of Mary, who we have all come to appreciate.
As far as protecting against spam, it can go the other way, as well. For about a month, all of my posts were blocked as spam.
Please don't feel that you are not welcome!

no need to bail, the system is what it is. We deal.
these random spammers make us look at pages here we would never have known about otherwise!
I finally had to turn off comments in the poor Jim McPherson topic so the poor guy could rest in peace. I'll turn 'em back on in a while, but it was getting ridiculous.

come on, please filter the spam or the spammers, whatever.
