    Good catch on Cinci '76
Jerry Moore usually made great audience recordings; however the 10/2/76 didn't seem as good. Maybe he was late setting-up and didn't situate in a prime spot, as he did the night before in Indy. eTree doesn't have a soundboard....

Last fall tour,I didn't see any shows this tour. Still have 2 unused tickets for 10/5/1994 for the Spectrum. I also have unused tickets from 09/25/1991 and 09/26/1991 Boston Garden. These are GDTS mail order tickets with cool graffix.

Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we have music from three distinct periods in Grateful Dead history, 1976, 1987 and 1994.

Our first selection this week is first set music (plus the first song of the second set) from the penultimate show of the fall tour of 1976 on 10/2/76 in Cincinnati. After the month long tour of theatres in June 1976, plus the Orpheum in July, the Dead hit a couple of stadiums in August, followed by an arena tour in September-October, followed by Oakland Stadium amd the Shrine in October. Then more than two months off, followed by the big Cow Palace NYE show. From Cincinnati, we have New Minglewood Blues ; Row Jimmy ; El Paso ; Tennessee Jed ; It's All Over Now ; Brown Eyed Women ; Let It Grow > Might As Well, Music Never Stopped.

Next is the start of the second set from 9/22/87, the first night of a three night run at the Spectrum in Philadelphia, where we have Gimme Some Lovin' ; China Cat Sunflower> I Know You Rider > Samson And Delilah ; Terrapin Station, with the first song featuring Spencer Davis. It’s a bit of an odd sit in, as I’m not sure how the Dead crossed paths with Spencer in Philadelphia in 1987.

Lastly this week is the entire first set of a great show on the Fall Tour of 1994, on 10/1/94 in Boston. From this show, we have Help On The Way > Slipknot!> Franklin's Tower; Walkin' Blues ; Althea; Me And My Uncle> Big River; Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues ; So Many Roads ; The Promised Land.

Be sure to join us here next week for more music from the vault.

1976 was very special because after the band took a break from Oct'74 to May'76, fans were quite anxious to see the group back together. I was so pumped, I hitch-hiked from Boulder to Indy for the 10/1/76 show (22 rides)!
