Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we have music from 1966, 1970 and 1973.
Our first selection is the oldest live Grateful Dead music we have in the vault, from Los Angeles on 2/6/66, playing a batch of tunes from which only one would survive in the repertoire much past mid-1966 (BIODTL):Tastebud, Mindbender, One Kind Favor, BIODTL, The Only Time Is Now.
Next up is some acoustic and electric Dead from 2/23/70 in Austin, TX, with this terrific batch of music: Me And My Uncle, Black Peter, Seasons Of My Heart> Uncle John's Band, Not Fade Away > Mason's Children.
Lastly this week is the first part of the big second jam from 2/19/73 in Chicago, with this sequence: He's Gone > Truckin' > The Other One. The master tape cuts of here before the band kicks into a huge Eyes of The World, but we’ll play that continuation here another time.
Be sure to join us here next week for more music from the vault
