    My first show

First set was acoustic and the second set was electric. Very nice.

Open air natural amphitheatre. A lot of bands played here. The Band played one night and the light people told me they say a guy that afternoon that looked like Dylan. I was tripping on some psychedelic substance and thought they were playing with me. This was after his motorcycle accident and he hadn't played in some while. After the 2nd set they came back for an encore and sure enough a guy walked out with the Band hiding his face with his guitar but we knew who it was. We rushed the stage and got to the second row. The crowd was so loud that we could hardly hear him. I'll never forget that.

    Mississippi River Festival...
Yes indeed the Dead did play there in July 1970. It was my very first Dead concert, still have my ticket stub, $2 for lawn seats. My older brother was one of the staff running shows at that time. They also played there in 1980 (you can check my description of that show on Archive.org). The 1970 show is also posted in my 1994 edition of Deadbase. So even though I don't remember much of the show cause I was still a kid, well, 17 at the time, but just waking up; that show did take place...Ststephen49

There is doubt whether the Dead actually played at this festival. Of course they did play at this festival ten years later in 1980 as evidenced by a few fine audience tapes.
