Sweet Jesus! Tapers section Hartford 3/27/1987

    Hey man,
The Hartford Civic Center was Positively Juiced at this concert on 3/27/87!
Crowd noise was electrifying to witness and hear. Check out the last minute of Touch of Grey ( In the Dark not yet released ). This is easily one of the finest performances that the band played during this era. Hartford 3/26/87 has some great musical passages also although not as solidly packed together as with 3/27. Go to the 3/26 show for the China>Rider blending and rest of Rider for a fine example of crowd noise and appreciation overwhelming the Recording. We all came away with good sounding Aud Masters this night, but the levels and mics were maxed during these amazing crowd blasts! Right on...
    Merci beaucoup Monsieur Lemieux

Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we have Grateful Dead music from a fine decade in their performing history, 1981-1991.

Our first stop this week is at the Rainbow Theatre in London, England, on 3/24/81, where we have the start of the second set featuring Shakedown Street ; Lost Sailor> Saint Of Circumstance > He's Gone, including a really unique Shakedown Street.

Next is the start of the second set from3/27/87 in Hartford, CT, on the extremely high-energy, triumphant East Coast Spring Tour of 1987, when the excitement of Jerry’s return to the stage was palpable. From this excellent show, we have Touch Of Grey> Samson And Delilah > Cumberland Blues ; Estimated Prophet > Eyes Of The World.

Lastly this week we have the cool end of the show, and of the three night run, in Albany, NY, from 3/25/91, where we have Space > The Other One ; Black Peter ; Throwing Stones ; Playing In The Band Reprise, Turn On Your Lovelight. This was a really fun run of shows, featuring only Vince on keys. Bruce had been present the previous four shows at the Capital Center, but would be absent for these three plus the next three at Nassau, before returning again for most of the rest of 1991.

Be sure to join us here next week for more music from the vault.
