Week of September 16-22, 2019
Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we’ll check out Grateful Dead music from 1970, 1984, and 1988.
Our first stop this week is the Dead’s last-ever show in Hawaii, from 6/13/70, where we have Me and My Uncle, Good Lovin', China Sunflower>I Know You Rider.
Next is the start of the second set from 6/14/84, the final night of a three night run, including the first Grateful Dead performance of Dear Mr. Fantasy. From this excellent show, we have Shakedown Street>Playing In The Band>Dear Mr. Fantasy.
Lastly this week is the bulk of the first set from the Summer Tour of 1988 opening show in Bloomington, MN, from 6/17/88, where we have New Minglewood Blues ; Row Jimmy ; Far From Me ; When I Paint My Masterpiece ; Althea ; Victim Or The Crime, including the first Grateful Dead performance of Victim Or The Crime (Bob had been playing it for five years with his other bands and solo).
