BIRTHDAY TO REMEMBER DEC 5, 1992 AGE 23
This was my last show before I entered the world of being a responsible adult. My first son had been born and I had to do what I had to do. that was 24 years ago but I can close my eyes and still remember that last show and the hitchhike trip back home to the North Georgia foothills where I call home. thank you to all of my brothers and sisters out there that attended this show for one hell of a party and being my one and only birthday show. ONE LOVE!

This is the old venue - the new Compton Terrace is at Firebird Raceway, Chandler AZ (off I-10) The 1990 and 1992 were played here.

Of course the show was fantastic...but when I think back about that day......One of my favorite memories of this event was as we were leaving. There were some security goons trying to get a very happy man to stop dancing, but the dancing guy was naked and the macho security goons were afraid to touch a naked man. I still smile when I remember them hovering at a distance with blankets, unable to get him to stop. He paid them no mind and he just kept dancing....the music had long since ended. <*>There is not better music than the music of the Grateful Dead!

Iflew out from Ct.To catch the tempe and denver shows.I stayd and traveled with my friends Dave and Erica. the road trip to Arz.turned into a blizzard.Going into New Mexico the state troopers were chaining the interstate. They saw we had 4 wheel drive and if you want to go for it good luck. At some points it was snowin sohard i had my face plastered to the wind shield telling dave to the right to the left, crazy. We were listening to the radio and Jerry comes on the air and rays get of the road it,s not worth it Man! We just rolled Jerry doing a public service announcement.By a wing and a prayer we made it to the foot hills and into Tempe. We got some much needed rest, had a great time seeing two great shows in 70 degree weather. Here comes sunshine!

I remember the naked guy - "It just doesn't matter, It just doesn't matter" as he went spinning into the stadium as we all headed back to the parking lot. That was first Dead show and when they encored with Not Fade Away and the crowed kept the chant going for what seemed like an eternity. I was hooked! God Bless the Dead!

freedom1 Who remembers the bomb Phil dropped during the intro to Truckin??? It almost knocked me off my feet. What a super fun place to see a show, desert sky, cold water showers in the show, and lots and lots of happy people. We hitched from CB Colorado all the way to the shows, Thanks for the ride hippy Bob !!!

I do remember this was the first time the Dead were coming to AZ after many years of absence. This show was a big deal for the deadheads around Phoenix, the build-up to the show around the city was just very nice..What about the AZ's heat during August? Can somebody tell me if there was an opening act for this show; I can't remember any.
