• Anybody know about this?
This highly detailed and quality pendant surfaced at a show sometime around late 1989 and was gifted to me. Besides its apparently strong energy for "wish-granting" and good luck, it has a small upside down "925" (silver) stamp on the rear surface of the lightning bolt with no other noticeable markings. I have been told that Bear made some pieces very closely resembling this one and wonder if anybody may have related information about this piece. Thanx!

Hhhmmmm... high grade silver, stealie with the classic 13 point bolt, right time frame, said to bring good energy ("luck"?) - seems like an Owsley piece to me. However, if you REALLY want to know, why not send a picture of the piece to Bear himself. His link is available through this site. I would guess it's real, though. Since Owlsley CREATED the stealie (to mark the gear and speakers HE BOUGHT for transport when he was the sound guy), and owns the image along with the GD, he was able to produce and sell the image. After moving to the other side of the world to create a homestead that would survive the apocolypse he predicted as a result of over population and global warming (not to mention an unenlightened society that wouldn't have EVER "passed the test" even if coached through the experience), Owsley surfaced as a silversmith. At first, (the late 80's) his pieces were more widely available, then, it seemed you had to know somebody,,, who knew somebody... well, you know the drill. The last pieces I'm familiar with were the 13-point bolt belt buckles. But I haven't really heard of anything for a few years. If you have one of these pieces - hold onto it!!! I don't just say this because of it's value in GD history or in silver, but because of the symbolism in the image and the fact that it was made by one of the truely visionary minds of our time. Bear's influence on what became a whole new way of interacting and conducting our lives can NOT be overstated. The man was - is - a genius, and to wear something he touched will surely bring good energy to all you do. BTW - I'm sure you all know, but just to repeat (for those lurking perhaps), 13 is the number of transformation. Lightening is also transformative (if it doesn't kill you). A 13 point lightening bolt going through your mind.... well, you figure it out!

It seems an interesting thing to know more about! Owsley sure was and presumably is a smart and very weird guy. Eccentric is the word I'd use. Check his website for more details regarding his odd views. It would be hard to find anyone who would subscribe to all of them. Original though! "Are you kind?"

Thanx for the input/responses. I, in fact, inquired to Bear as well and have been informed that it is apparently and unfortunately "cheap rip-off junk." I still love it and it came from a dear friend under quite literally awesome circumstances. I am also indeed 'kind' and ironically enough was told to never part with it unless it passed to another's hands who were also proven to be as such. Seems to go along with the foundation of GD magic and the literal dictionary definition as well. I still wonder on the origin of this peice as, like I said, have never seen another like it and it does have gerat detail in high-quality silver...albeit only 11 bolts in the lightning strike! Thanx Again, Stay In Touch. As Ever, J
