  • Dear Jerry,
Where does the time go? 13 years at that. I miss you man, and I'm sure I speak for many. No frills in this painting, No fancy schmancy colors, minimal to no eye candy. Just you playing imaginatively to the song that the morning brings. 13 years ago today, I had difficulty working as you filled my mind with so many questions, and filled my blue eyes with tears. Today, they're just blue. And in your honor, so are you. I named this 'Blue Jerry.' It is based on another I did of you, (i pulled that post as i want to re-work it) with elements taken out and new elements added. Thus the beauty of the Theory of Relativity. Who's to say that every drawing should be completely different? I like to use little bits and pieces from other works of mine, and incorporate them into new creations. It's all just as ONE big piece of art. Just my own quirky artistic way of doing things. Hey man, I still have my candle I burned at your vigil the day you left us. I'll pass it down to my kids and they hopefully to theirs. I hope you're well, and see you when my time comes and then we'll see if you've been practicing your guitar. I know you're a smart aleck, but if you tell me you have a band called the Ungrateful Alive I'm just going to have to shake my head. Blessed be! , and oh,..... Thank You (for a real good time) -Tom

    Jerry would be proud!
13 years without that fantastic grin lookin' over the top of his glasses at us, probably wondering "Why do they keep comin' back?". Jerry...and the rest of the Dead gave us what we needed to look deep into ourselves and see the beauty in this CRAZY world. They have been the ONE constant in my life since I started listening in 1971 and I would never change anything about it. Jerry is lookin' down on us and saying "Yea, ya guys got it right, play with the tunes, mix it up, play it differently with different people and just HAVE SOME FUN! Bobby with Ratdog, Phil with his Friends...just keep it goin' and the world is a better place because of it! From the bottom of my heart...Jerry we miss you like no one else and to Bobby, Phil, Mickey & Billy...we love you for what you do and continue to do! ..even a blind man knows when the sun is shinin'...you can feel it!..

Thanks so much! I kept thinking on Saturday as I listened to some shows that Jerry was singing with Jehovah's favorite Choir & it comforted me. PEACE
