    June 3 - June 9, 2013

Welcome back to the Tapers' Section, where this week we have music from 1977, 1984 and 1993, spanning three distinct eras of Grateful Dead music.

Our first selection is from 5/1/77 at the Palladium in New York City, the 3rd night of a five night run at the venue formerly known as the Academy Of Music. From this show, we have Dancing In The Street>Brown-Eyed Women.

From seven years later on 4/21/84 at the Civic Center in Phildelphia on 4/21/84, the final show at the Civic before the Dead returned to the Spectrum, where they'd play until 1995. From this show we have the start of the first set, featuring Alabama Getaway>Promised Land, Friend Of The Devil, Me and My Uncle>Mexicali Blues, West LA Fadeaway.

From the start of the second set on 3/29/93 in Albany, NY, we have the quartet of songs Here Comes Sunshine, Looks Like Rain, Box Of Rain>He's Gone. The weather this night was pretty bleak, so it was appropriate they played three weather-related songs in a row. I remember driving home after this show through six hours of heavy rain. Overall, this three night run in Albany was pretty good.

Be sure to join us here next week for more tunes from the vault.

I'm glad to see 1984 getting some Tapers Section love for the last couple of weeks. If my first Grateful Dead concert from 7/1/84 Pine Knob may never see an official release, it wouldbe awesome to see it here in the Tapers Section sometime! I'm actually pleased to see some '93 love as well.
