I believe that either Ken Babbs or Zane Kesey owns the rights to the movie. They really ought to let a high-quality DVD be released!

And go post to that effect here right now! Because that's where the product development folks check in looking for requests.

...shall we go, you and I while we can... For those interested, a 16 track master resides at bt.etree.org.(gd72-8-27.sbd.braverman.16582.sbeok.flacf.torrent) and an upgraded copy of Sunshine Daydream (with additional footage, MUCH more clear picture, and the above noted sound track) can be found for DVD at www.shnflac.net. So guys, you can make your own "box set". BTW, NRPS, who opened the show, have commercially released their set, so you can buy it and have the complete "Field Trip" experience without the dehydration!

We drove over caravan style from Adytum (9 miles above Lowell) in a 1950 panel truck (GMC) and my brother's 1948 ford pick-up. The traffic jam from Eugene to Veneta was a record breaker for the state of Oregon up to that point. The heat may have been a record breaker also, as it hovered around a 100. A couple of sky divers parachuted down during the NRPS set. Also red tail hawks flew over (was it during "Last Lonely Eagle"?). I was 18, had moved away from home by way of Table Mountain (7-4-72, Granby, Colorado)- White Buffalo above Strawberry Lake. These are hints for some of you who were there and others who were not. So back to Veneta, Texas medicine, primera vez. Thank you Q. The Dead roared to life and yes, 3 sets with some of the finest renditions of "China Cat Sunflower"- "I Know You Rider"ever and perhaps the most stellar version of "Bird Song" ever to grace the void of the Universe." Dark Star" covered the field of souls with waves of beauty and power of the "Gods" or call it the "Muse" that flowed through the band as a mighty wind. The third set I managed to stand on the planks set up in front of the stage. From that amazing perspective I stood six feet directly in front of Jerry. And what a "Dark Star" it was. My old dear friends from high school in Ct. were there in the crowd. (Mr.Jimmy,Theresa G.,Danno, and Wynn) They had driven up from San Francisco in the "Connecticut Cruiser". My brother and his dear wife Shelley were there. David K. and Michele were there. "Whamo" Glen and "Whamo Odie" were there. Most of the Pranksters were there. And I was there as a youth who had found one of many paths that led to beauty and wonder. I'll always remember that day as a jewel , a fine jade ,a gift from the "Gods". A true touch stone to the path of light, to keep me searching "for a heart of gold". So the gathered made good medicine that day. Thank You Jerry, Thank You Ken Kesey, Thank You Babbs, and yes Thank You Nancy, I still love your acidopholis yogurt.

sitting here right now with a friend watching sunshine daydream... very fun dvd! we, too, had a laugh over the writhing spunion emerging from bob's cranium... someone asked why zane or ken babbs haven't released the item commercially. if i have my chronology of the story right, someone in the prankster camp (not zane, but one of the old-timers) had been making bootleg vhs tapes of the show and selling it via a mail-order back in the early '90s and they got a spanking from GDM. in the time since, the release of this *crucial* piece of the grateful dead / prankster archival history. zane doesn't sell releases of the dvd, but he's been known to burn and gift copies to people who treat him nicely... :) ___________________________________________ groovin' the light fantastic at http://www.popeshady.com and http://people.tribe.net/shadygrove

I had heard the Dead on LPs but never live. Then when they came to the Fair, a friend of mine took me along. My goal at the time was to have a great time and sell a bunch of Window Payne. I had no idea what to expect.I had been drafted into the Vietnam War was leaving at the end of Aug. 72. To say the least it was a life changing event. Rev. Scottie
