Lehigh 81 was my first show. Missed the first few songs....long story. It was the beginning of a long, strange and amazing trip. Thanks for the tunes Dave. Happy 2014 to all. Namaste.

I listened to Touch>Scarlet, skipped through Rooster, loved Dire Wolf, skipped through Esau, caught the end of High Time on the way to a blistering Let it Grow that reminded me a little of '77, not '87 and stopped the clip before Don't Sneeze. Haven't gotten to the Jam of the Week yet. Maybe, Thursday.

    "stir the hornets' nest" time
5/20/73: sublime ecstacy. 9/16/87: bloated clunky "terminal boredom" (thank you, PiL).

Welcome back, and we hope 2014 has started well for you. This week we have a batch of music from the 1980s.

Our first stop this week is on 9/25/81 in Bethlehem, PA, the first night of a three show tour that preceded the Europe '81 Fall Tour. From the start of the second set, we have Might As Well>Samson and Delilah, Scarlet Begonias>Fire On The Mountain, with the end of Fire On The Mountain getting clipped due to the end of the cassette master.

Next up is the finale of the Dead's three night run at Eugene's Hult Center on 8/31/83, featuring the end of the second set and encore. Truckin'>Stella Blue>Around and Around>Good Lovin'; U.S. Blues, Kesey announcements, Satisfaction. Like our previous selection this week, the end of Satisfaction gets cut at the end of the cassette master.

Our last selections this week is the entire first set from 9/16/87 at Madison Square Garden, featuring Touch Of Grey>Scarlet Begonias, Little Red Rooster, Dire Wolf, My Brother Esau, High Time, Let It Grow>Don't Ease Me In. I was fortunate to attend this show, and it was a huge surprise when the end of Touch Of Grey flowed into Scarlet Begonias. Always fun when they mixed things up like this.

Be sure to stop in next week for more tunes from the vault.

.......it sure was! I attended this show, but what was fun about the day was that we caught the opening of the Stones North American tour in Philly in the afternoon, and made it for the second set of this show, good day of Rock and Roll!

Hopefully the Fox 80 release was just a tune up for upcoming Stabler and Buffalo MATRIX releases:)
