    September 07 - September 13, 2015

Welcome back to the Tapers' Section, where this week we have Grateful Dead music from three excellent years in Dead history: 1970, 1976 and 1978.

Our first selection this week is a rare single track entry, specifically That's It For The Other One from 6/12/70 in Honolulu. These shows in Hawaii featured some good music, and also some sound problems, owing to the fact that Bear was unable to leave California pending some legal issues.

From six years later to the day we have music from the fourth night of a four night run in Boston on 6/12/76 to start the east coast leg of the Dead's comeback tour, with a good sequence of 1971-1973 Grateful Dead music: Tennessee Jed; Let It Grow> Drums > Let It Grow > Wharf Rat.

Lastly this week is the start of the second set from the big 6/4/78 show at UCSB Stadium in Santa Barbara, CA, featuring Samson And Delilah; Ship Of Fools ; Estimated Prophet> Eyes Of The World.

Be sure to join us here next week for more music from the vault.

    6-12-70 TIFTOO?
From 8:37 to 8:45 sounds like Hendrix to me. Anyone else hear that?

Hawaii shows in January 1970 also
Check out 1.23.70 for more goodness from the Aloha State... Sound quality is very nice as well.. 6.12.70 has been getting some under the radar plays on Sirius,, featured on Today in GDHistory 2 times and here on Tapers Section, I think twice also.. Bobby was not too thrilled with soundman that night.. I hope to hear more from this run.. I emailed Dave a while ago about this June Hawaii trip and what else was recorded, but no response. The good thing is the Fillmore West run from a few days before is in good quality. 6.7.70 is excellent and hope for some sort of release from this night or a compilation from the 3... 1970 is the X-Factor year for me and the Grateful Dead

on probation for marijuana possession I believe. The Dead's first trip to Hawaii and what a trip it was, too bad bear was not there, he would have had a high time. Love 1970 and any show from that year is a good pick.

What a pity BEAR wasn´t there to set things right. "That´s it..." from 6/12/70 in Honolulu gives us a hint of what went on. Grateful Dead at their best in my opinion. The intensity reflects the context? I´d love to hear more!
