    September 14 - September 20, 2015

Welcome back to the Tapers' Section, where this week we have music from an eight year span in Grateful Dead history, 1970 to 1978.

Our first selection this week is from the Dead's final performance in Hawaii, on 6/13/70, featuring a good blend of typical 1970 Grateful Dead music, Me and My Uncle, Good Lovin', China Cat Sunflower>I Know You Rider.

Next up is music from the final night of a magnificent four night run of shows at the Boston Music Hall, on 6/12/76, featuring the end of the second set, Comes A Time ; Dancing In The Street > Jam > Around And Around, Sugar Magnolia > U.S. Blues > Sunshine Daydream. Some of this was included on the final instalment of the Road Trips series, featuring the entire first night.

Lastly this week, we have music from 6/4/78 at UCSB Stadium in beautiful Santa Barbara, CA, featuring the rock and roll end of the show, Not Fade Away > Goin' Down The Road Feeling Bad > Around And Around. This is the same set-closing sequence of three songs that was played three weeks earlier on 5/14/78 in Providence, RI, the show that represents 1978 in our 80 CD box set 30 Trips Around The Sun.

Be sure to join us here next week, and if you have any questions, comments or suggestions about what we do here, please email me at the address below, and please put “Grateful Dead” in the subject line so that it's sure to bust through our state-of-the-art spam filters.

    Drums and Drumming
I like that segment in Good Love during drums, a drum break, like a march, or something. You can hear Micky count and lead the beat. Heard it before on FW69 3 disc set in an Alligator jam. Does this have a name?

    Boston '76 Comes a Time
Gorgeous Comes A Time - one of my all time faves. Hand't been played since 72, and Jerry's vocals are beautiful. Whole band sounds perfect.Wharf Rat prior - double Jerry ballad - special night!

NFA>GDTRFB>Around was also was played three weeks later... on 6/25/78 at Autzen Stadium, Eugene Oregon. In fact, most of the entire second set resembled the Santa Barbara show.
