Annie Bonneau from Saint Angel, Say the weather down here...
So Fine. Looking through the window watching it rain, listening to this Black Peter from Alpine 84. It's so dynamic you can hear Jerry's guitar rattling the snare drums during the beginning and the quiet parts in the solo... The Other One has a nice long intro. Never was a fan of Dear Mr Fantasy. After getting my mind blown on 9.7.85, I was one and done. That sticks out to me as the best version. Do it in the Road peaked in Philly 85 as well... Both of those songs had the tendency to sound sloppy.

Welcome back to the Tapers' Section, where this week we have music from 1969, 1981 and 1984.

Our first selection this week is from 7/3/69 in Colorado Springs, CO, featuring two big Pigpen numbers from the era, and a terrific version of the quite-rare He Was A Friend Of Mine in the middle. This sequence is from the cassette master: Hard To Handle ; He Was A Friend Of Mine ; Turn On Your Lovelight.

Next up is the start of the first set from 7/7/81 in Kansas City, featuring New Minglewood Blues> Bertha > Dancing In The Street ; Big Railroad Blues> El Paso; To Lay Me Down. That's the first version of the disco-fied arrangement of Dancing In The Street in nearly two years, and there's certainly some rust around the edges.

Lastly this week is a great sequence of music from 7/6/84 at Alpine, featuring the entire post-Space part of the show Dear Mr. Fantasy > The Other One > Black Peter > Why Don't We Do It In The Road > Sugar Magnolia, Touch Of Grey. This is the second version of Why Don't We Do It In The Road, and the third version of Dear Mr. Fantasy, two cover songs debuted in the previous few weeks.

Be sure to join us here next week for more music from the vault.
