    I was at this show, and always feel that it has been seriously under-rated, probably because it follows after the (IMO disappointing) Creamery Benefit from the night before. I hitch-hiked with my girlfriend from the Alberta Rockies to Vancouver (really the old days, right?) where we met up with some friends and drove down to Seattle. I'd already seen the Dead a few times at the Seattle Center Arena, and this probably remains my favourite indoor venue - always general admission, a chill crowd, and an agreeable space - not huge and with good sound. Although Jerry has just begun to lose his voice for good, the band is tight, and the delivery is high-energy - it would really be great if some of the second set SBD would turn up, with its enormous He's Gone and super-crunchy NFA. BTW, the is the second time this piece of first set SBD has been featured here, the other instance being in September 2011 (http://www.dead.net/features/tapers-section/september-12-september-18-2…).

Welcome back to the Tapers' Section, where this week we'll hear some Grateful Dead music from 1969, 1980 and 1982.

Our first stop this week is on 8/30/69 at the Family Dog in San Francisco, China Cat Sunflower > Doin' That Rag, Morning Dew, Easy Wind. This was a month before China Cat and I Know You Rider would be joined for the rest of time (mostly), so we hope you dig this end of an era, the China Cat without Rider.

Next is the end of the first set from 8/27/80 at Pine Knob Music Theatre just outside of Detroit, where we have New Minglewood Blues, Althea, Looks Like Rain ; Big Railroad Blues ; Feel Like A Stranger.

Lastly this week is the end of the first set from 8/29/82 in Seattle, featuring West L.A. Fadeaway ; Little Red Rooster ; Loser ; Cassidy ; It Must Have Been The Roses ; Let It Grow, featuring the brand new West L.A. Fadeaway.
