Not to start the week off on a negative note, but I have never understood the appeal of this show (and the Cornell '80 show) that warranted them being published in the Road Trip series. Neither of the shows was terrible special, and the 'big' song in each of the shows ==Shakedown and Terrapin--were lackluster. I recently listened to all of my GD CDs (took a while but time well spent) and I felt that this was the only published CD that did not deserve to be published. I know that one's milage may vary, but I just couldn't find anything great here. My 2 cents.

Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we have Grateful Dead music from 1980, 1984 and 1991.

Our first selection this week is a quintet of songs from 5/6/80 at Penn State University, music that was included on one of the Road Trips releases a few years back: Lazy Lightning > Supplication ; Althea; Lost Sailor > Saint Of Circumstance.

Next is the start of the second set from 4/27/84 in Providence, RI, where we have this cool sequence featuring a double dose of beautiful Jerry ballads: Playing In The Band> China Doll > High Time > Man Smart (Woman Smarter).

Our last stop this week is the start of the second set from 5/3/91 at Cal Expo, the first night of a three night run in Sacramento. China Cat Sunflower > I Know You Rider ; Estimated Prophet ; He's Gone. The shows the week before in Las Vegas and the week after at Shoreline included Bruce Hornsby, but these Cal Expo shows were Vince-only affairs.

Be sure to join us here next week for more music from the vault.
