Wow.Great post. I’d like to write like this too – taking time and real hard work to make a great article… but I put things off too much and never seem to get started. Thanks though.I'm common rail come from sensor .

    Discovered the vibe here
Went to visit people at UCSB. Told me a guy had a ticket. Met him and offered him the $7.00 face value. He said, "No man, I only paid $5 for it and he wouldn't take more than five. Smoke nice mix of hash and seedless in the gym. I remember a great Sugar Mag

Oh Yeah, I remember tis one. What a weekend!! Went to Santa Barbara to meet up with Rick, who had the tix. When I got there I found out he had family obligations, That' Rick for you. So I headed South to meet up with friends turned out to be one of those miracle weekends, no details on this part. So I head back to SB, on Sunday with this great grin on my face. Pulled into SB and saw the line halfway around the gym. Oh well I already had a great weekend. So I caught up with Rick and we were getting ready to go to the show. I told Rick that the line was already getting long and we better hurry. Rick never hurries. Then his brother-in-law comes in and tells us if we leave now we can get in the back door. That was the only time I saw Rick hurry. We got right in with floor seats about halfway back. I don't thik it could have been much better. We had seats and plenty of dancing room. I was already in a great mood and the show just kicked it into high gear. Bobby did a great El Paso, in fact that West Texas wind sent chills up and down my back. I think the highlight though was Jerry at the end of first set. This was the only time I remember him doing anything like this. Bobby was going to the mic to announce half-time when Jerry kinda nudged him, memory kinda foggy here folks. Jerry sticks up his finger to say he wants to do one more and starts into a rockin' Scarlet. It was great. I always think of the Dead as the whole experience, not just the show. So I hope didn't bore you with unecessary details. Miss you Rick, say hi to Jerry for me. Once in a while you can get shown the light. In the strangest of places if you look at it right.

Its been 32 years--to the day, in fact--and its odd how memories stick in my mind. A couple of things: 1) Jerry wore a red t-shirt. It didn't seem that big a deal at the time, but once the black t-shirt became a uniform, it stood out in retrospect. 2) When the band finished Music Never Stopped, Jerry and Bob started to take off their guitars, and Phil came running over to Jerry holding up his finger, clearly indicating "one more." Jerry shrugged, re-strapped his guitar and fired up "Scarlet Begonias." At the next show (Winterland 3.18.77) they introduced 'Fire On The Mountain", so this was the last standalone Scarlet that I heard (I think they did a standalone Scarlet on the East Coast tour that Spring, however). 3) Where I was sitting in the gym (in the seats, stage right, about 1/3 of the way back), Keith Godchaux was very prominent in the mix. He was brilliant and led the way through many of the jams. He started to decline the next year, but on that night he outshone Jerry, Phil and Bob. RIP.
