does this ship? to me the cover art is fun-i like it-gaudy, pop culture style, comic book-the delights within hinted at?

Just a picture

.... so listen to the music play

When I first saw it I had the same thoughts. It looks kind of cartoony, not a good representation of the Dead's music. But apparently this show was played the day the first Star Wars was released, and I'm a big Star Wars fan (though I'm 21, so wasn't around back then), and I dig that aspect of it. Star Wars had and continues to have cult-like following, just like the Dead, and I see the reasoning behind it. I think it could've been done better, but I see where they're going with it. But I see your point as well. We'll just have to wait and see the other Dave's Picks from next year. Can't wait.

The Star Wars reference is clever, though, a nice detail; but I simply don´t like the Dave's Picks logo, which, by the way, should be featured in a smaller size with the number of volume. In fact, I think that is the problem with this cover: the banner with the name of the series and the number of volume, it is far too big and quite ugly. The Road Trips' designs were beautiful, you can do it better, people from the Grateful Dead Art Department.
Anyway, the important thing is the music, of course, so I'm really eager for this realease to come!

The packaging might be a little more important than the art work. With RT V4 NO5, disc #1 was wedged in so tight it took 10 minutes of careful finesse to remove that circular object. I had to put on a soft cloth glove, squeeze the sides, grab the cd and slowly twist the CD back and forth until it worked its way out. Luckily this motion did not cause scratch marks on the most important surface. I was dripping nervous sweat during this whole process.
Please no packaging like the Road Trips or Europe 72. New series with new packaging would be a good way to get off on the right foot.

I was thinking about that....

I was imagining packaging....

Perhaps you could be the first to make a furry
CD cover?

Like the fur on furry dice that hang...
on the rear-view mirror.

It might the first ever?

It would have a nice feel in your hand while you slide
the CD in.

That would one for the collection, for sure, xo!

As for the pattern or art work on it...
maybe a rose with a little dew dripping from it.

New Artwork!

Hey Dave! I love the logo and I love the art!! Y'all can put any picture you want on new music and I am buying!! I can't thank everyone enough at for keeping the music coming several times a year! 60's, 70's, 80's, and 90's!!! A new release is a new release!! I've personally never been let down by artwork or packaging.

Keep it coming! I check the website several times a week and it's amazing how often the news is always about new and upcoming releases. It always makes my week!

Thanks again and y'all take it easy!!!

I like it.

The first thing that strikes me it is a completely different concept than any other cover the band has released since Fallout from Phil. The Road Trip art all had a bit of a grainy subtlety to it and was only a portion of the cover with the large borders. This is very in your face and bright. It also strikes me as kind of strange/ironic (same with the late Dick's Picks) to see computer art on a show from the seventies. If you never heard The Dead, you would certainly not guess their style from this cover. The Star Wars reference is very clever and cool. Certainly wasn't expecting that. I do agree with "One Man", this kinda does look like a bootleg cover...but overall, I like it.
