David Gans has been around the Grateful Dead scene for as long as I can remember. For over 20 years he's been hosting the Grateful Dead Hour with fine music, stories, in-depth knowledge and well planned broadcasts. He has co-written the ever popular 20th anniversary book "Playing in the Band," as well as "Conversations with the Dead" and other books. He has also contributed to many other publications such as the Golden Road, Dupree's Diamond News, and the list goes on. David is a musician who tours and plays some fine original music as well as great covers. He's collaborated with many fine musicians, including one of my favorite bands, moe. I listened to his "Birdsong" this afternoon and that was enough to convince me that I'd make a tribute drawing to the man who brings us a LOT. He's a multi-tasker in the true sense of the word.
