Sitting on the Rock
sitting on the rock, on a windless autumn day;
a bubble pops, there's a ripple on the pond, then
a stretch of silence no chipmunk could ignore;
there's no ripple on the pond no more;
the silence stretches out, not a leaf stirs;
the fire red maple in the ponds' reflection;
zigzaggy waterbug skates through the scene,
near a circling dragonfly making her rounds;
a bubble pops, maybe its a frog;
there's a ripple on the pond
on a windless autmun day
sitting on the rock.
