RIGHT ON PAPPY

Hey Exp. I posted this because it is funny, it is what it looks like, have you seen the Obama Palin dance pic. Guess I'll have to dig up an Obama pic to even it out maybe not.

Anyway I don't support either canidate, and don't really agree on Deadhead anything for politics. Humor is healthy my brother. Deadheads for NORML yea,

Overall if poltics creates animosity and conflict amongst Deadheads man, maybe the world is coming to an end, oh my god run for the hills, save can goods, drink water you'll be ok, wow is that a satelite or a UFO.

So Peace, Love, and Fun. oh yea can go home now.

Did not say it was

Everyone has a right to their opinion, and I respect that. But everyone that I have talked with is missing the point. Who cares if you support Obama? The remaining members of the band have now decided to take sides in an election by supporting a "politician" and a political party. They have historically been apolitical. I don't really care about that. It's this. They have taken this a step further and are calling this "Deadheads For Obama." "Deadheads" is a large umbrella, an all-inclusive label, under which we all fit. That is what I kinda object to. It's polarizing, divisive, and disruptive. My point is not all heads support Obama so why not just call it "Remaining Members of the Dead for Obama." It's an opinion. No hard feelings. I'll keep listening to the music and hopefully see them on their spring tour next year! Have a nice day.

Er....uh....

With all due respect...

"Deadheads for Obama" does not infer ALL Deadheads. That's like saying "Rednecks for Obama" infers ALL rednecks. Or "Women for McCain" infers ALL women. It means THESE women are for McCain, etc...it's a group you can join or not join. There SHOULD be a Deadheads for McCain - 'cause apparently there are plenty of 'em. No one's taken the reigns yet, I guess.

I understand that you don't like the fact that the musicians did what they did - but they didn't bill it as "The Dead for Obama". So, what you suggested they should have called it is even farther than what they actually did! For the record, I have no record of anyone being apolitical (OR political for that matter) during Watergate or Iran Contra or Desert Storm. If someone had some blurbs, that'd be great.

I hear where your coming from - your point is not lost on me by any means. This was a very simple and funny picture. The one GOGD speaks of w/ Obama & Palin photoshopped in to a Dancin' With The Stars pic is HILARIOUS....and I loathe Sarah Palin (or at least what the RNC has turned her into).

Fun, Fun, Fun!

Exp. Remaining members, hmm like that. No hard feelings either. I was very suprised when then the support deal came out at the Warfield and the whole deal. Had to ask around why because of the apolitical history. Came to find out Phils son is a campaign guy or whatever. More and more it seems people are saying that it's a awareness to vote, ok roger got it. I'm just glad they boy's are playing and so hope there will be a tour this spring and the election crap will be done then it's just Dead for Deadheads. the way life is supposed to be, or is that Maine. Anyway Wave that flag, support our troops

I agree with Exploratory

I am a supporter of Obama. I am voting for him and I can't stand Palin Or McCain or Dubya. However, this is a Grateful Dead site and I believe we should leave politics to other sites. Everybody can get their fill of bashing or actual political discourse at innumerable websites and blogs. I just don't think we need it here. Just my humble opinion.

pomo1--Well, we can't leave politics out of this or any other site. The band has taken sides and has created this. I will admit, a lot of heads are happy as clams about this. So it's fair game I guess to discuss.

PAPPYPGH--By apolitical, I can't remember a time (correct me if I am wrong) when the Dead endorsed particular political candidates/politicians and parties--when they gave political speeches from the stage in favor of politicians. . .

They did allow folks, like Wavy Gravy, to rant and rave with their diatribes (Maples 73' show). Another example, during the drums of Cryptical 6/7/70 Fillmore West, Bill plays the drums very softly so everyone could hear a lady in the audience to say a few words and cuss about NAM.

Quite agreed

I tried to put this on the Campaign forum but couldn't get it on my post so here it is. but it's a classic pic. Maybe it shoud be imposed with the Obama Palin dance one as McCain in the audience saying Sarah, honey what are you doing? Imagine if it were Hillary, Anyway yes this is a dead site and this is a subject of the times initiated by the dead themselves and all of us, one big happy family. It will all be over soon enough and this will all be forgotten and we can focus on Dead for Deadheads and upcoming spring shows, ticks rides and that Fun. but c'mon now this is funny.

next.

Please don't dominate the rap, Jack
If you got nothing new to say
If you please, don't back up the track
This train's got to run today

I spent a little time in the mountain
Spent a little time on the hill
I heard some say "better run away"
Others say "better stand still"

Now I don't know but I've been told
It's hard to run with the weight of gold
Other hand I heard it said
It's just as hard with the weight of lead

Who can deny? Who can deny?
It's not just a change in style
One step done and another begun
In I wonder how many miles?

I spent a little time on the mountain
Spent a little time on the hill
Things went down we don't understand
But I think in time we will

Now I don't know but I was told
In the heat of the sun a man died of cold
Do we keep on coming or stand and wait
With the sun so dark and the hour so late?

You can't overlook the lack Jack
Of any other highway to ride
It's got no signs or dividing lines
And very few rules to guide

I spent a little time on the mountain
Spent a little time on the hill
I saw things getting out of hand
I guess they always will

Now, I don't know but I've been told
If the horse don't pull, you got to carry the load
I don't know whose back's that strong
Maybe find out before too long

One way or another
One way or another
One way or another
This darkness got to give

----lyrics---Rbt Hunter

be kind to each other, see you
