Grateful Dead Hour no. 117

Grateful Dead Hour by David Gans

Week of December 17, 1990

Conclusion of a two-part interview with Grateful Dead percussionist Mickey Hart, discussing his book Drumming at the Edge of Magic; the CD that accompanied it, At the Edge; and other subjects. This program also features the legendary (and delightful) original "rap" version of "Fire on the Mountain," with Mickey Hart on the lead vocal.Recorded around 1974, I believe.

Enjoy!

Making the world better...

So interesting... of all the terrific musical talents in the Grateful Dead, it sounds like Mickey Hart may be the one who makes the deepest, longest lasting impression on the world of music of any individual. What wide ranging knowledge of the world's cultures, and what a great understanding of how essential music (and rhthym especially) are to those cultures. And best of all, he has the skills, perseverence and passion to see it preserved. The world is a richer place for Mickey's work.
