February 11 - February 17

Every Friday we'll be sending you off with a Jam Of The Week, hand-picked and delivered by tape archivist David Lemieux. Listen to it on the weekend. Listen to it at work. Listen to it all day long...but make sure you tune in or you'll miss out because these little nuggets will stream for ONE WEEK ONLY!
No not the same as the 70's vibe or pure power, but very nice just the same. The mid 80's Scarlet>Fires were delivered with a more orchestral feel. Check Hartford one week earlier, (DP-6), a little more straight forward, less effects, but similar groove. Brent was adding his own style and making it work within the mix. I love it. Compared to the soundboard versions we had to listen to on TDK SA-90s 30 years ago, the sound is magical.
Strong voice, weak or no voice, Jerry can always make me smile.
THANK YOU!!
No, it's not the same 70 stuff ... but this is a nice, un-rushed, version... they are taking their time, exploring through this one...I dig it...
Nothin' left to do but :-) :-) :-)
This doesn't have the same effect as the 1970 stuff did the other day. Are you sure this is the same stuff? Maybe i'm just building a tolerance.
I'm happy none of the 'dead air' before UJB was edited here -- good long silent patch there. Seriously -- I also appreciate it when on official live releases we get as much ambiance as possible, including as many and as much as possible of the between-song-ness goings on. Anyway, thanks.
the vocals on UJB are a train wreck and there's no two ways about it, but the jamming, especially the Playiin>Space more than makes up for it. Thank you!
Conversation is always more interesting than recitation, so speak your mind and not someone else's.
After waiting a week I thought the wheel had stopped turning on the Jam of the Week. I was afraid it might have lost it's boot (leg) in transit. Jerry's voice on the fall tour of 83 was rough at times. Seems like his voice got better as the tour went on. I remember the MSG shows from earlier this month. My one and only St. Stephen.
This is a good little jam. It's nice to hear something different every week. Jerrys is so sweet on this. Plus I think Brent pulled it off. Phil...well Phil and I share the same birthday. He is always on fire.
i love the dead! what a awesome band they were!
Nice long meaty 28 minute Scarlet>Fire starts this one out!

This really is a wonderfully enjoyable "Scarlet> Fire"!
It ends up that this show is on Dick Latvala's
list of great versions of "Scarlet> Fire"!
