This looks great! Except I'm bummed I can't use it. It looks like you need an iPhone or iPad, right? Why don't they make it work on a desktop computer!? Not everyone is "hip", "cool", or rich enough to have an iPad.

I agree! Not everyone has an iPad. How about an Android app or a PC version?

Just wanted to say thanks for creating this. I am a DeadHead for life and have been trying to learn how to play dead songs for half my life. So keep the songs coming. Im loving it. Thanks all.... And guys with Pc. I know u cant afford the Apple Products. But used Apple stuff on Ebay or elsewhere is perfect for this. I bought an older Ipad for pennies compared to the new stuff that's out there. Just a thought. O And I certainly am Not "Hip" or "Cool" LOL...Just needed it for this type of stuff.

I want to be Playing In The Band but what all is needed to make this software work (aside from a guitar and an I-Pad). This is making me want to go out and try my hand at playing. "The compass always points to Terrapin" Gr8fulIra

The software is such a great idea, at least in the demo video. But it keeps crashing on my iPad2. I can't get it to stay open for a lick. Is there anything I can do?

hello, i've been in touch with their support desk. they emailed me this reply: "We've checked with our servers service provider, and they've told us that there has been intermittent problems with our cloud servers, yesterday, overnight and today. They've told us that the issues with the servers should be resolved. Which means that everything should be working now. If that app still quits out, can you try deleting it from your device, then re-downloading from the App Store?" lo and behold, it worked! hope this helps --

Please make this available on European iTunes also. I have Rock Prodigy but can't load this one. So the app is not working? Wouldn't it be a real surprise if it did? They will get it together at some point. You just have to be patient. Lesson you have to learn if you want to be a deadhead.

Thanks for the request for an Android version! Google is currently having trouble processing real-time low latency audio. Hopefully this changes soon so Android users can start playing the app! Like many other music software and rhythm game developers, we're hoping Google develops the support for real time audio in the near future.

I wrote DL about 2 years ago suggesting a GD app. It would be awesome to stream the Taper's Section or JotW on your phone. You could also shop or read the dead.net site content from your phone. A good example is the Phish app, not that big of a phan, but they do have a great app.

Some people have been experiencing "quit-outs" with the app. We released an app update this week. Please delete the app from your iOS device, then go to the Apple App Store and "update" the Grateful Dead - Europe ’72: Rock Prodigy. With the new update you will also be able to get access to a new song from the Europe '72 tour! This week we released "I Know You Rider" (Newcastle, England 4/11/1972) and next week will be Bertha (Bremen, West Germany 4/21/1972).

hi 9mileskid, Sometimes if there is a interruption with the server when the app is downloading it can cause corruption to the files. We have had a few reports of this and the 'fix' is to delete the app and re-install from the Apple App Store. Sometimes it takes a couple attempts. Also please verify that you are running iOS version is 5.0 or later, and that there is at least 1.0 GB of free space remaining. Sorry again for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience. Also, please feel free to email us at contact@rockprodigy.com for further trouble shooting.

The app is pretty cool, but the transcriptions and performance-selections are inconsistent and somewhat confusing. Both the performance and tab for Jack Straw are good. What is particularly good about the tab is that moves between Jerry's and Bob's parts exactly where you want: when Jerry is playing almost nothing, the tab is on Bob; when Jerry tosses off a lick, its tabbed out. Jerry's solo -- it's all there, and it's a nice one too. So far so good! But then you look at the tab for China Cat and its all Jerry all the time. I would bet that nobody needs the tab to know how to move from the F to G chord while Jerry is singing, but I bet lots of people would like to know how to play Bob's signature riff throughout the tune, but you don't get it here. Similarly, the tab of Jerry's solos are fine (although I think the shift in positioning during the standard theme halfway through the second solo is wrong), but why not tab out Bob's playing on the third solo where Jerry is just knocking around some chords and letting Bob drive the train? I suppose there are reasons to just stick with Jerry's part, but it would be nice to know whether that's what you'll get with a particular tune, or whether you'll get a broader and better picture like with the Jack Straw tab. Then there is the actual performance (not song) selection. I have tabbed out many a Jerry solo. I would never take the time to transcribe the Bertha or UJB solo's offered here. Bertha's just a bit lackluster (first tune played in a studio setting, Jerry gets all the lyrics wrong, the solo is tepid) and features Jerry dropping a whole lotta turds. Similarly, UJB has a few cool riffs, but Jerry gets uncharacteristically out of position more than once, and much of his solo is just plain bad. I have no idea why anybody would want to learn either of those solos note for note. Bottom line: I wish Rock Prodigy were more consistent in what they were going to transcribe from tune to tune, and I REALLY wish they were more thoughtful about the performances that they chose to transcribe.

We accidentally "turned on" Uncle John's Band & One More Saturday Night in the in-app store yesterday, BUT they are not ready to go live. We still need to finished the transcriptions and coding for them so we can't make them live yet. If you purchased either of them, you will get an "Error Message" when you try to play them. Please delete them for now and when they go live they will show up as "Purchased" and you will not be charged again. They are both on the schedule for release this month. Sorry for any inconvenience! I have an acoustic guitar with pick ups. I have been playing for 4 years but am probably as good as someone who has been playing for a year or two. Hey I have a job and a baby and lots of other stuff. Anyway this works great on my ipad2. Tip it is very sensitive to the sound (that is a good thing), so use the built in tuner. I tuned my guitar myself and it was picking up the low e fine but not the f on the low e string. I tuned with the device and it is perfect now. 2nd play with the controls. You can to 1/2 speed. I am doing the part in jack straw where it goes e d b minor a. I just kept doing it a few times. Here is where it gets weird for me. Easy is for someone who just picked up their first guitar. Great learning tool. Medium is a nice step. Hard is a huge jump from medium. I wish there was a level between. Prodigy is for an accomplished guitarist. Best app I have ever purchased. I wonder if they will break out songs outside of Europe 72. I can play ripple, standing on the moon, so many roads and a few others. It would be great to be playing with the band on here. I purchased the 72 box set and started listening to it on 4/7. Wow. I now understand why some people refuse to listen to anything after 72. Dark star and the other one at their finest. Pigpens good lovin and love light are stretched out in new ways. Playin is not too long. I like 13 minutes of playing. Anything after 72 was too long for me. I heard Betty boards of all these shows before but the box set is amaziing. Going in order really allows you to watch them grow. My only complaint against the box set is black throated wind. I hate that song and they play it at every show. Anyway if you have a guitar by the app. You don't need to plug in for it to work

Thanks again and please keep the feedback coming so we can make the app as great as it can be! The Rock Prodigy Team

Hey augustwest, The Rock Prodigy Guitar Team just met and there was a unanimous agreement with your feedback. I think we originally thought it would be great to save the last level for a note-for-note transcription of Jerry's parts, but like you said, sometimes it just makes more sense to switch it up. We are going to take this approach going forward. The guys also want you to know that we are treating the transcriptions with a lot of love and respect to the Grateful Dead and the fans and we really appreciate your input. We will also look into how we can improve song selection based on performance. Please let us know if you have any requests from the Europe '72 tour! Thanks again for the great feedback!
