Mickey Hart and his compatriots in the Global Drum Project have won the Grammy for Best Contemporary World Music Album category for their mesmerizing self-titled CD. Mickey's percussion partners on that fine disc are Zakir Hussain, Giovanni Hidalgo and Sikiru Adepoju. Mickey and Zakir produced the album at Mickey's Studio X in Sonoma County; engineers included Jonah Sharp, Graham Shrimpton, Richard Fisher, John Paul McLean and Robert Gateley. Mickey, Zakir and Tom Flye mixed it. Mastering was by John Cuniberti at The Plant in Sausalito. If you haven't already checked out this extraordinary work, now's the time!
Mickey previously took home a Grammy in 1991 for his Planet Drum album, which featured the master musicians mentioned above, and many others.

What's up? Even though the Grammy's as an institution matters little, Mickey should have gotten so many more. I mean Diga Rythm Band really started to show the importance of the music being universal and bringing cultures together. Also, Mystery Box should've been awarded a "post" Jerry healing album award or something. congrats on the award. Keep on playing man. Thanks, Jeff
