facist phil

i can produce a ton of bad stuff about our savior obama. if you noticed i have been pleading for people to vote libertarian and stop being sheep. let me know if you want to hear all the bad stuff our messiah has on him. and btw, rolling stone lost its credibility probably 25 years ago. they confirmed it when kurt cobain was in the top 10 guitarists of all time and JG wasn't even in the top 20.

What credibility?

Rolling Stone? Credibility? Who? Where? LOL
Jann Wenner has been in the tank for the Democrats since day one (November 1967, IIRC). Rolling Stone is as reliable for political articles as Mother Jones is or The Nation. Real balance there! :-D Anything to smear the Republicans.

And their music articles are crap too, and have been since they went to a magazine format in the aerly '70's.

But it's popular with the college kids, so it must be good. (I need a "rolling eyes" emoticon here.)

obama show

Artie De.I so wish I was going. I'm so broke. Some friends are going and I could tag along and hope for the best but have things changed?

So much animosity. I'm pretty anti-McCain and I'm very pro-Obama, but WOW. Yeah, there's a ton of bad stuff on all the candidates. The Libertarians, however are a FAR cry from the answer for me. I'm not into living in the woods & killing my meals every night. I'm pro-choice and I have no problem paying my taxes. I am a FIRM believer in "help your brother" over "help yourself", and whoever wants to call me a socialist, feel free to do so, even though it'd be a misnomer.

The remaining members of the GD reuniting for this cause is what it is. They're not calling themselves The Dead and I wouldn't care one way or the other if they did. I'm going for the music AND for the support of the candidate. Calling Phil Lesh a FACIST? Get over yourself. Who on earth do you think you are??? "Yeah, man I love the music but the bassist is a facist." Grow up and quit the name-calling. Everyone's allowed his or her own opinion. Show a modicum of respect to someone who has brought so much joy into your world.

Finally, as for that Rolling Stone article - yeah, really not credible. They only list EVERY source by name. If they were lying, they'd be sued for lible. Sorry - in MANY (most) cases, I would agree, as I stopped enjoying that rag LONG ago - but the article was well-written and listed their sources. In my book, that article could have appeared in High Times and would still be credible.

Better to fade away???

What did Neil Young say back in the 70's? "It's better to burn out, than to fade away ... My, my, hey hey." Well, I'm afraid that Phil is beginning to fade away. I saw him the other day in Charlotte, and must admit, between that show, and now this Obama thing. Well, please Phil, take Neil's advice. It's only a shame that Neil didn't follow his own advice, either.

This is not just about Phil and Bob, but my other favorite band, Bruce Springsteen. These guys need to support Life, and not the anti-Life ticket : Obama - Biden.

BOOO.

Thank you for purchasing tickets to the October 13th Change Rocks at the Bryce Jordan Center. In an effort to make you trip to University Park as easy as possible, we’ve summarized some information to help your entry into the venue.

Tickets for this event are sold out. Some patrons had attempted to purchase more than the limit of two tickets. but there are a lot of Republican's and former military guys speaking on the record. In that article. McCain seems pretty much like a shorter more pissed off version than GW ... would you call your wife a cunt in front of three reporters ?

Anyways...There hasen't been one politcian who doesn't have some slime on them..

Obama isn't a messiah, he is just a man. A well spoken individual who obviously is hitting a nerve with people judging by his ascendence up the polls in states which are red. I mean North Carolina might vote democrat. Think about it... NOrth Carolina might vote for a black man.

Its called progress and America should be proud...regardless if you disagree with his politics.

Read David Brooks speaking about Sarah Palin and Obama. Arch conservative. Has his head on straight. Just read it...Obama suporters and McCain suporters.

Obama-Biden

Mostly, this thread just makes me sad the amount of negative, barely concealed hate filled venom against warrior artists I love. I tried to avoid posting but the comment re: Phil fading away got my goat. I suppose it falls in the "one man gathers what another man spills"category but damn I'd put the Uncle Johns jam Dark Star>So Many Roads>Dark Star v.2>Midnight Hour segment up against any rock n roll being played today. Period. Full stop. My over 30 year mantra is "the tapes don't lie." The energy and artistic interchange between Jackie, Phil and the rest of the friends is a wonder to behold. On a par with seeing the flame rekindle with the core four. So, to the issue of politics your mileage may vary but the over riding sentiment of the artists themselves is that perhaps we would not be so far don't the shit tube had they been more conscious of political engagement earlier in their lives. To deride that is frankly un American given that little thing called the Constitution that in fact bestowed the freedom that let the music flower to the extent that it did. Time to change and restore hope...Obama-Biden '08 (OK,...I too am tired of that bullshit libertarian utopian ranting that would have us return to killing for our next meal)

I wish I was there. It should be fun. McCain rallys are a hoot these days what with people yelling "terrorist" and "kill him" etc...
