Rock Legends to Play Obama Fundraiser
The Pennsylvania Campaign for Change has just announced a Monday, October 13 concert fundraiser to benefit Obama for America featuring many Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees and other American music icons. Additionally, the show will be a very large voter outreach opportunity for the Pennsylvania Obama campaign, which has already built the largest volunteer-based campaign in Pennsylvania’s history. The campaign has more than 70 field offices and thousands of volunteers preparing for an unprecedented Get Out the Vote operation. There are now more than 1 million more Democrats in the state than Republicans, an increase of 500,000 since 2004.
Tickets will be available at 12:00 p.m. EDT on Friday, September 19, and are $50 for the general public and $30 for University Park students with a Pennsylvania State University ID. More ticket information is available online at:

Let's say for the sake of argument that its 2000, and the boys play for Gore and a few hundred florida voters are convinced that Gore is their man. Last 8 years probably different??? As Wavy Gravy once said, everything is political, "taking a ___ is a political act."
Bamski-that is the interesting part here!

I am off to explore the fun aspects of this website, which is people's stories of shows, learning about people's adventures and experiences at the different shows, learning what got people on the bus, looking at the cool photos posted from their concert and personal experinces, getting feedback on shows, getting turned on to shows that I was not familiar with, getting turned on to different versions of different songs and so on. That is much better than all this political bullshit.
Feel like I'm riding my old BMW R75 without a fairing: the bugs hurt when they hit! But they do deflect and I keep riding... keep the focus on the prize, which is to help Barack's campaign and to propel him into the White House. Good luck acquiring tickets to those of you who are planning to go. The rest of us will try to play nice and get along.

Can T.T. be "not nice either" for posting?? Was writing, which we all are entitled to do. I liked the post actually, and even if I didn't- think is very rude how you reacted, Bamski. Can say you disagree without calling names.

And again we see why the boys should avoid political events, especially in a climate as divisive as this election year has generated. I dare say I know more Republican Dead Heads than I do Democrats, but that may just reflect the circles I travel in. I know even more unenrolled or independent DH's than the other two categories combined, and that seems right.
When we sit around the fire listening to the music, talking politics, it is always civil, often contentious, and never reduced to infantile dialogue. And we rejoice in the music's ability to bridge the mythical ideological or generation gaps that fuel our national politic feud.
I'm just saying... play a show for the rain forest, for land mine removal or blood drives. Heck, play a show to raise awareness of the plight of the bumble bee. But politics is a smarmy, treacherous, dirty and dishonest business, not worthy of the legacy of the Merry Pranksters, Cowboy Neal, or even the wall of sound.
Trust me, these things I know.
