I wasn't sure if I should laugh or be offended by that New Yorker cover a few weeks ago; but, after reading pajaks comments and hearing the favorable response (by some) to the ridiculous attacks by sarah palin to Obama's ties to terrorists I have to say that cover was right on the mark. Unbelieveable...and sad.

(Think about how the press would react if a fascist newspaper heaped such praise on McCain.)

His political organization spearheaded a massive campaign against a Chicago radio show that invited one of his critics to appear even after being asked (and refusing) to send a representative to balance the program, hosted by a non-partisan University of Chicago psychology professor. Worse, his campaign sought to chill free speech by establishing a truth squad of Missouri prosecutors and sheriffs, which threatened a vigorous response to any ad presenting information about Obama that they deemed to be inaccurate. That even as America struggles to bail out our own struggling economy, Obama backs a global bailout? His Global Poverty Initiative would assess $2500 per taxpayer, according to Investors Business Daily, to fund a global war on poverty administered by the UN and its agencies.

That despite touting his academic credentials as a rationale for initiating a campaign for president just two years after leaving the Illinois state legislature, Obama refuses to release either his college or his law school transcripts just as he sought to keep records of his
working relationship with former terrorist Bill Ayers on The Annenberg Challenge (a left-wing educational foundation) safely under wraps? What is it that he doesn't want voters to know?”

it's what he's not tellin' us that i'm worried about.......only time will tell......and just so it's clear...i don't trust sen. mccain either.

From what I can tell, ol' Barack is pretty swift w/ words. He sure can get a crowd goin'. Once he starts talking, it's like everyone listening gets all pumped up - wanting to be a better citizen and take this country in the right direction. I hear people using the word "volunteer" for things like "community service" and the ilk.

Even IF all he is is talk (which I don't believe is the case), how bad of a thing is it to motivate people to do right by your fellow man and to try and change things all around you and your community for the better. Offering $4000 to college kids in exchange for community service. Offering Health Care to those in need - while NOT mandating it for others (read the plan, it is not national, government enforced Health Care like Hillary's plan was - Obama's plan says that if you work and/or HAVE existing coverage - NOTHING will change)...how bad is this stuff???

A lot of people putting this guy down for having good ideas and good motivational skills. I just don't get the argument.
